What is a remapped VRS as quick as

Featured Replies

I had an Astra van drive up my arse the other night so I put my foot down to "teach him a lesson" then he just flew past me. God knows what was under the bonnet but it certainly put me in my place lol

It wasnt white and in the Morpeth area was it? Lol

  • so far my 1.9 non vRS 100hp has left for dust; a Nissan Micra, a Dacia Duster, 3 Kia Cee apostrophe d's, my mate Dave on his mountain bike, thirty six mobility scooters, seven Lambo Gallardo's and the

  • Was he wearing oven gloves Tom? If he was then he'll be posting on you tube soon saying how he pwn'd you.

There's a white and black one near Whitley Bay that's running like 300bhp and goes like **** off a shovel...

Love s2000's

My bud had one 240bhp rwd. Bounced it off the limiter everywhere.... Smokes the shizzle out of a fabia....

They're brilliant engines, designed for such antics! I miss my VTEC unit a lot. 2.0 Civic Type S, used to **** on most TDis that I came across. Only difficult ones were the 150s. The problem lies in the fact that the 1.9TDi is a porky bastid. My car weighs 1455kg, whereas the vRS version weighs around 1395 or something.

I'd be interested to see how someone got on against a 106 GTi/Saxo VTS. Those are pretty quick, especially with a couple of choice mods.

To put things into perspective with the type r debate, I owned a 98 spec JDM dc2 integra type-r with aftermarket 4-2-1 manifold, decat, buddy club exhaust and a cold air intake. I raced a lad I know who at the time had a 240bhp 1.9tdi Ibiza cupra (it was very heavily modified) and I'm not gona lie from a standing start he pulled 2 car lengths on me! However past 80mph it was a different matter! Once the integra got into it's stride I sailed past him :) I will say though the 1.9 pd engine gives awesome low down and mid range shunt, he probably had twice the torque of the integra lol!

Thats good to know, 80+ pace isnt very useful unless your daily commute is via a airfield lol.

There was one with a hybrid turbo in once of the car mags a few weeks ago, they make the same kinda power as vag tdi`s. The bloke went to the ring in it! lol

my mate had a vtr, I was stock he had just a exhaust, when we had a "brisky drive" it was hilarious, i`d pull a few lengths on straights then he would be back on my bumper after a couple of corners. I suspect a mapped fabia against the quicker vts would be around the same, they are just so quick on the corners!

Nah it was a red one with Autosomethingorother written on the back of it, red and totally filthy. I'm stage 1 so this thing would be way quicker than a standard. He was coming off Moorfarm roundabout driving north towards Blyth/Ashington.

Have raced a mates Saxo VTS that had full exhaust, cams etc and I was pulling away from

It... Not easily but enough to satisfy the diesel lover in me :)

One of the things I love about the Fabia is that it gives its best within the UK speed limit, so it has performance you can use and enjoy without losing your license.

There are a lot of fast cars out there that are very good, but engineered to go very fast. So at slower legal speeds they just aren't as much fun.

yep totally agree with that comment ^^

Here here!

This is a very good point. One of my uncles had a Morris Minor on crossply tyres, said that driving it at 40mph felt like the fastest thing in the world!

Considering the current speed-related laws (unchanged since good ol' 1967), it's very relevant for those who enjoy driving to look at buying cars that give the thrill of driving at lower speeds.

Classic Mini, for example, is well worth a look...

Well what do you think the fabia vrs will do vs other hot hatches such as, clio sport, corsa vxr, copper s, zetec s, polo gti, civic type r, seat ibiza fr all standard??????

My friend has a clio RS 200 and there is no difference up to 90 but I've never been over that with him

As for zetec s they aren't up to much

not as quick as a standard mark II vRS... *runs...

When actually works ;)

Sorry to mention this but me and my friend had a go at testing this out. Mk1 fabia vrs remapped by revo and Honda civic type r mk ll. Let's say on the 3/4 mile straight we had got a little interesting and the fabia shocked the type r with the torque

A classic Mini as much as people think they drive slow all the time they don't. Mine was speed tested a couple of times on a track and made 120mph which isn't bad considering the engine is a 60 year old design now and those kind of speed's were unimaginable back then. The problem with my classic Mini was the powerband, it only came in around 2.5-3k but it rev'd all the way upto 8.5k.

In a straight line even with 110bhp it wasn't the fastest thing going but put it through a corner and it showed up some bigger and more powerful car's, an Sti scooby, and a Sierra Cosworth are both example's of car's I've either pushed of pulled away from round a corner in my old classic, they then had me on the straight.

My mapped vRS isn't the fastest thing around I agree, but the mid range pull is fantastic, even my mate has commented on how close I managed to keep with his 3.0 Twin Turbo Supra running pretty much Standard power, when pulling onto a slip road.

Is this thread still going?

I'm not saying they're slow, just that at legal speeds there's not much to touch one for fun! I've had the pleasure of driving a last-of-line Cooper Si with a 5-speed gearbox... my God it was a laugh!

I beat an f430 at the lights the other day :p while i was dreaming :D Although managed to scare the crap out of an m5 from 50-70 then after that it was bye bye v10 pwr (numberplate). A MK4 R32 had a hard time shaking me up a steep hill :o & I can keep up with my mates Mk5 gti but he dives like a girl.

Have to agree with other posts about the classic mini such great cars when well modified & working :)

What has diving got to do with it. :D

haha!

oops

you know what I meant :)

a lad in a 180bhp ST said he couldn't catch me said it just kept pulling away. Mines 165bhp

His car is broken, or not 180 bhp then. Power always beats torque in the long run...

In the long run being 120mph+ ?

At legal speeds it doesn't always.

There is no way a 165 bhp deisel would 'pull away' from a 180 bhp lighter higer reving petrol. Although point taken, at 'legal' speeds with 15 bhp in it, its probably more down to who hits the gas first.

The reason I say what I do is because the 0-60mph and quarter mile times (and terminal speed) for the Focus RS with around 300bhp are almost exactly the same as my car.

And I'm running 40-50bhp less, but more torque.

Although the Focus RS is a fat old beast and is 100kg more.

But that's still only around 7% heavier with 20% more bhp.
