Looks like I have one! I best get updating it tonight guys :)

There is no way a 165 bhp deisel would 'pull away' from a 180 bhp lighter higer reving petrol. Although point taken, at 'legal' speeds with 15 bhp in it, its probably more down to who hits the gas first.

I thought it was strange that he couldn't catch me, but they were his words not mine.

Sent from my GT-I9100P using Tapatalk

a lad in a 180bhp ST said he couldn't catch me said it just kept pulling away. Mines 165bhp

That's possibly your realistic or measured 165 against his "pub" 180 bhp. Your pub bhp could be as high as 185 depending on totty overhearing potential... ;)

Well thought ill share my experience on here.

Drove a brand new Mini Countryman S down the A10 for 15miles and have to say i didn't enjoy the drive at all even with giving it the beans... I own the Fabia VRS MK1 which is remapped to 166bhp and 277lbs/ft torque and have to say it was great to get back into. I would guess the countryman is faster? however it didn't feel fast at all. Was missing the torque too much

The Clubman S has 189bhp and 199lb/ft... can't comment on the Countryman S, must be the same or similar. Heavy and thirsty I know that :D

Don't forget the gearing and torque in the vRS is set up for instant oomph! then nothing... :)

I have not read this, but to answer the OP

Quicker than your one mates car, but not as quick as your other mates !!

As far as i'm aware it's the same. Was really expecting a lot more out of the Countryman S, amazing the prices people pay for these cars... I will say i played around with my mate once in my VRS and he was in an old Cooper S (the supercharged one) and he couldn't get passed me and commented on how well my car went.

If i were to be honest i feel power throughout the whole rev range of my VRS now since it's been mapped, pulls to about 4.3k then it's time for a gear change. If there is one car i wanna feel some torque on it'll be the BMW 335D remapped, sure thatll have some power lol

Its funny as now I have switched to a petrol with the ability to rev to 7000rpm, I rarely do.

I went home yesterday following a MK4 Golf GT TDI 150bhp (all red letters) round a roundabout then up the bypass and he wasn't hanging about. You could tell when he changed gear too as it was power power nothing change gear :D

He couldn't shake me :D

I don't think the new Mini's are faster than the new vRS either, but as said before, depends on the driver and being in the correct gear.

Well i had a run in with a brand new Seat Leon FR 170TDI who started tailgatting me, i dropped a gear and was pulling away from him. He didn't look to happy lol

That's the best feeling ever when the bigger posher cars get left in a puff of smoke.

You know their thinking in their head 'My god, I just got owned by a little skoda'

Yeah, i couldn't believe it myself tbh. I even noted his number plate in my head so when i got home i looked it up on my phone to see what engine and bhp it was lol

Same power alot more weight. Easy win for the Fabia init!

I raced my shadow other day, brraapppp

EVeryone is talkin about bhp with the re mapped fabias. A usual re mapped fabia 170 to 180 bhp with just under 300 torque.where would a fabia like mine with a performance clutch which gives me 340 torque fit into the equation, all be it still only with 179 bhp?

I think it will make a 'small' difference in terms of acceleration, its a combo of both power and torque you want.

However because both are linked BHP should go up too, you cant either one without the other.

Yeah both are linked.

Think of it like this. With standard clutch I had 170bhp at 4000rpm and 125bhp at 2500rpm.

With a updated clutch and mapping to suite I now have 170bhp at 4000rpm and 150bhp at 2500rpm.

So that will obviously make the car quicker then, and faster to 60 am I right?

Closest to my mapped fabia straight line n that have been the seat leon fr 2.0tdi 170 but I reced my mate heads up from 30-95 in his pug 206 gti180 full as exhaust that's all he has I only have a remap and a filter he completely left me past 70 which I didn't expect niver did he was shocked that he would pull away so quick.

Think it like this. When your accelerating hard what part of the rev range are you in? 2.5k to 4k, 3k to 4.5k?

For fastest times you want as much power in the range you use. So if both maps have the same power in these range then I'd expect no difference. But one might have more power below that area which will help accelerating out if corners assuming you in that area.

Get ya.

I beat a Blue David Brown once

Faster than Jimmy Saville's fiddlee's are coming out of the wood work?

Should there be another thread about tools who think their car should be faster than a standard fabia but aren't lol

So far that has included stuff like 520d's, audis tdis etc, What is it by the way with this people ? They are so persistent !

I was doing *ahem* a bit over the national limit the other day, clearly pulling away albeit not dramatically, but certainly enough, on the (red tDI) Passat...now if there is a car you are going to struggle with its a passat TDI unless its been mapped of course.

Even then without some special work its going to be spectatularly uninspiring against even a standard model.

I guess he was hoping that I would give up and he would win out on top speed, well guess again mate unlucky

He was trying to match me for quite a few miles, either stubborn or maybe he respected the ability of the fabia

I'd expect it was the former though and people just don't like to be overtaken by what they may firmly believe is the underdog?

I really am old enough to know better....but then again....

Works both ways. . . ;):hi:

That said, a 520d is a lot of car with not the biggest engine in the world, so can see your point there! It's the A3's with a 1.6 I find funny.
