First tank average above 70mpg

Featured Replies

Just managed my first tank average above 70mpg.

OK, so its only 70.1 but I am pretty pleased with 665 miles from 43.1 litres.

And that's a loaded MC, with Climate, 17" alloys, proper tyres etc.

Interestingly I have switch to BP premium diesel and its adding 10% to the economy for a 5% increase in price.

Also the on board computer is accurate now to within 1 mpg, with that tank showing an average of 70.9mpg. Current tank averaging at 78.2mpg so hopefully might better this result :)

Sorry, yes.

It's the 1.6 105Hp TDi - car was new in September last year

Damn diesels. They make me cry at night :p

Why? Mpg ;)

That's brilliant, what sort of driving do you do? Non stop from Exeter to Inverness at 65mph, starting at about 11pm?

I really wish I could have made diesel work for me (having had 4 diesels), the driving I do just doesn't justify the cost of the fuel.

good effort! to put this into perspective, I have to try hard to get more than 400 miles to a tank on the vRS! lol....

But 400 miles on a tank is not that bad for a vrs, I get 540 miles per tank

I got less 250 from a tank in my vrs and it was quoting me 300 after fill up :(

I was trying... went to the last WSM meet , and was determined not to have to fill up on the way (I'd already done some miles on this tank, didn't fill up at the start of the journey!) the computer said no miles left "---" when I was still on the M5 but I ignored it, and drove to the caravan park anyway ;) as the needle hadn't hit rock bottom! lol... then I made over 400 on a tank...

it isn't unusual, depends on the driving..... I will often get much less ;)

NOTES!: all you fabia II vRS drivers, your oil consuption and MPG will improve with miles on the car, the only 3 people with circa 20k on them are reporting no oil losses, and easily acheivable 45 mpg

im on 25,000 miles... no oil useage since 20k service, and 50+mpg on my drive to work last night! (but Stu , I WILL get 29 mpg if I'm pretending to be a rally driver ;) )

Mine is just coming up for 12000 miles i got 43mpg coming back from hull when i first got i (on regular fuel because i didnt know any better at the time) but ever since then the most iv ever managed is 32 mpg. Driving 9 miles to work i get between 19mpg and 28mpg.

I always leave the house thinking "il drive carefully today to save fuel" 5 minutes later the foots down.... Its to much fun booting it :(

Not quite, but not far off.

I commute 6 days out of 10 to Stansted Airport from Surrey at odd times (shift work) and drive on the M25 between 60 and 65mph. Total commute is just under 80 miles each way.

I do that about 80% of the mileage, and general round town stuff the other 20%. Doing 35-40k miles per year every mile per gallon really matters :)

it'll barely warm up in 9 miles though :( if you are in traffic it may be worse, my commute (normal work place, they move me! :( ) is 18 miles, and 60-70 mph a-roads, with roundabaouts.....

lol :)

Never going to get close to 70mpg but then I didn't buy it for that :)

400 from a tank,,,,,,,,,if only, i did manage it once though

I beg to differ on that (18500 miles, oil consumption just within VAG tolerance by 18 mls in 600 miles)

Nice one on the 70MPG

please add youself to the problems thread I started. I'm genuinly trying to find out how many are suffering.

Already done (for a second time). Put it in problem free seeing as how it is within tollerance (just).

I once drove to Edinburgh and back from Ulverston, Cumbria on just a little over half a tank! Fabia vrs tdi revo remapped.

I used to get over 700 miles per tank in my Greenline II... then I bought something faster. :)

Would have bought a greenline - but they didn't offer sports seats as an option

I'm at 21k still using oil but not as much as previous... Also struggling for 40mpg on a run but I'm

Putting that down to my driving style
