Well here she is again with the ultimate accessory! For those who are interested she towed really well ...6th was much more useable than my previous vRS's despite having the same engine and Yentle only having 550 miles on the clock. well pleased.

  • Hi Yety, nice job, just a shame yours didn't come with a handbrake!!! lol

  • Took a long hard look at it today and I'm sticking with a silver chin ... it looks fine to me so I'll save my pennies for now. Thanks all for the comments. Can't decide if my next one should be red

After seeing Iain's magnificent machine, I was instantly on to our dealer (same place as did iain's yeti) to see if there was still time to add the wheel arch protectors to our shiny new candy white Yeti. This wasn't a problem but it did slightly extended the long wait until we could get our new monster as the protectors have to be allowed to set in place for at least 24 hours after fitting. We're picking up the car tomorrow and after seeing Iain's pictures, I'm sure it will have been worth the extra wait.

Enjoy! I wonder if I get commission??

Wonder if they'd look good on a platinum grey? (once they get rid of the mould)

I'd ask if I were you. Sales of these things must have rocketed since you posted your pictures.

The caravan now needs the small bit across the bottom and round the wheel arch painted black!! ;)

Looks terrific! But someone has parked a huge kitchen appliance rather close behind you! :giggle:

That is a great looking rig. The black and white theme works. Now you just need to get the van's wheels black too!!!

Is your caravan sporting a toupe?

No ... it's sporting the 'must-have' of the 2012 caravan world, a sunroof.

To be fair the guys at West End have been very good to us, both as repeat customers and introducing other customers.

without wishing to turn this into a West End fan page I think they are just very good to most people. The difference I have had between speakign to them and to Chathams is like night and day. For instance on my last trade in for the Octavia there was at least £4k difference between the West End and Chatham figures. Chathams were frankly taking the mickey. When you deal with West End they don't seem to do much faffing about they just get on with it and do a deal.

Today I had a dummy run dry fitting front wheel arches with dealer fitted mud flaps.

I reckon with a little craft knife fettling, the arches will go on first followed by the mud flaps on top. The fixing holes might need elongating slightly, but there again the extra tension in fitting on top of the arches seems to provide a good tight pressure while the glue is activated.

Just looking for some nice dry, warm weather now to get them on and protect those vulnerable bits of painted metal body panel edges round the arches.

Indeed ... no shiney suits, no faff, good deals, good service, no spotty youths telling you your trade in is worthless and an enthusiasm for their product. Can't ask for more.

+1 on IainM1970 and Domhnall`s comments as regards the guys at West End Garage.

+2 They are by far and away the best garage we have dealt with, both in terms of the deals offered and the overall experience.

I was in discussing mouldy yetis earlier today and mentioned to Stewart that this thread had turned into a WEG fan zone. He almost blushed :-) And asked me to point out they are on now on facebook for all fan related chat :sun:

Awwwww ... as a Teacher I don't do Facebook, so I'll just need to worship WEG from afar! lol, meanwhile they can worship all the money they've had from me over the years ... all happily handed over might I say!

Now should we have WEG T shirts made .... with pictures of all the guys on them ,,, too far???? lol

Waaaay too far

It's important to fit them when dry, from what I can see, the instruction is quite limited.

I would personally stick to the VAG stuff, I recall it cost less than 10% of the wheel arches. I think it also needs priming.

I have had 2 bits fallen off since fitted. The key is to rough up or degrease the inside of the wheel arches to make sure it sticks well and after fitting leave the car in a dry place until it is solid.

You have to use primer on the wheelarches before gluing.

ELCH Pro primer 146 (bottle of 10 ml) partnr. HHA 381 016 price (in the Netherlands) € 12.22 ex BTW

Really good looking.

I'm liking the plastic wheel arches - where did they come from?

Did you have any problems fitting the front mud flaps? I've been told that they don't fit when the black arches are fitted but your car has them.

You have to modify the front wheelarches to fit with mudflaps

I wonder how difficult it will be to modify the arches to work with the Park Assist eye on the front fender...

Just one snag, I need special two part urethane adhesive which the dealer could have mentioned when I collected the bits. I suppose I could use Sikaflex or something similar but I guess the proper stuff is a safer bet.

You can use SikaTack®-Drive http://www.sika.com.au/cmi/pdfs/tds_TACKDRIVENEW-630.pdf

When did you have the wheel arches fitted - what was the date?

A couple of days before collection on 1 March, maybe a week before. Can't remember to be honest.
