  • Well here she is again with the ultimate accessory! For those who are interested she towed really well ...6th was much more useable than my previous vRS's despite having the same engine and Yentle on

  • Hi Yety, nice job, just a shame yours didn't come with a handbrake!!! lol

  • Took a long hard look at it today and I'm sticking with a silver chin ... it looks fine to me so I'll save my pennies for now. Thanks all for the comments. Can't decide if my next one should be red

A couple of days before collection on 1 March, maybe a week before. Can't remember to be honest.

I had mine fitted to my 61 Yeti on February 14th. So I started the trend!

I have since fitted mud flaps all round and I had to re-shape the flaps with a Stanley knife but they are good.

Ah it might have been yours that Graeme showed me a picture of ... I wasn't even aware of them before that and hadn't been part of the plan. Glad I had them done though.

I wonder how difficult it will be to modify the arches to work with the Park Assist eye on the front fender...

I don't now what exactly is the problem to fit the arches in combination with Park assist?

Park Assist adds an "eye" ON the front fender to measure parking spaces. This will of course be totally obscured by these fender arches. You can see this eye in the picture below:

In that case you can't use wheel arches. The only solution is to drill a hole in the arches and after fit the arches, paint it black (sorry for my not so good English)

Nowt wrong with your English. That is exactly what you would have to do, and I can't see a problem with it, other than getting it in the right place!

Looks like Skoda copied yours to make the Urban!!

  • Author

Nearly .... but not quite! I think the Urban has body coloured mirror caps and a chrome grill.

The guys at my garage were told about the Urban just before I collected mine and took pleasure to say they'd done something similar for one of their customers!

I prefer yours I don't like the sound of the racing seats in the urban (spinal fracture three years ago). I have problems with seats now, I bought the most comfortable drivers seat I have ever sat in, and it came wrapped in a Yeti!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever sat in a Renault Vel Satis? I think not. The front seats in that are the most comfortable on the planet. The backrest is even split horisontally in the middle so you can adjust the lower and upper halves independently (just like on some Range Rovers). The next most comfortable seats to these are always to be found in the front of a Volvo in my view. Amazing seats they have. Though in saying all that my electric Yeti pews are very, very comfortable too.

I wish I had specced the electric seats for my Yeti as I find them not the most comfortable. I would also have got the passenger mirror lowering device thing which I really miss.

I like it all except the wheel arches. Makes the wheels look tiny.

I put the wheel arch kit on last week - a bit nerve racking at first, but then got the hang of it.

Yetiwheelarchkit001.jpg

The front mud flaps needed a little trimming with a junior hacksaw blade to remove the lip which locates the flap behind the metal wing at the top, but apart from that - fairly easy.

I used the Skoda bonding agents, plus a little Tigerseal to reinforce for added secrity.

It certainly looks good, IMO, and hopefully will protect those painted wheel arch edges when on stage rallies and supermarket dings.

Looks really good IMHO. I hope that the wheel arch kit becomes standard on any face-lift: it improves the look of the car, apart from the added protection it gives.

:giggle: . Just don't like the creaking pads and thermal contraction possibilities :whew:

ps: this side as a handbrake fitted :giggle:

Was the grill part bought black or did you have it sprayed black?

You will see that my black Yeti shares this feature! See link below...

Black grills - way to go!

Both top and bottom grilles are bog standard OEM black plastic, matching the wheel arch kit nicely.

A black plastic Skoda badge would be nice, but that's it for bling for me :giggle:

ps, are the OEM badges anodised aluminium with a protective cover? If so, that would explain the white worm - white aluminium oxide forming under the transparent skin.
