So, Who's doing what to celebrate Liz's 60th

I'm personally fed up with it because

1) its not a Monday holiday here so I am at work Monday off tuesday. My son is at school for Monday , then off tuesday and then back in. My wife is not allowed either day off. Again her company is giving English staff both days off but has prohibited scottish staff from even using annual leave to take either day off..

Monday is a substitute day off for the English Spring Bank holiday.

Take the matter up with your Messiah

Falls in the middle of 8 straight days at work. Woot.

My missus will be on one of the boats providing tv coverage, however. She'll be chuffed it's peeing down

The mighty Alex, clearly failing miserably trying to do an impression of England’s finest, Winston Churchill

Never have the words ’close but no cigar’ had such a literal meaning ;)

Cast your vote shortly and us holidaying, Jubilee swinging English with our mass shrinking economy will be nothing but a distant memory in the minds of aging Scots. Who needs us English anyway?

Oh it's a swingers' party? I see.

Local authorities control local holidays not the FM so I need to take this up with the labour party then?

I'm surprised that your son is going to school on Monday as for many schools it is half-turn this week.

We've got the Monday and Tuesday off - we had to vote for whether we wanted Tuesday off or not, and there was 1 vote in it. We had to either take it has holiday or work extra hours for it though (not that it's ever a problem in my job to do extra hours). Any excuse for a day off work gets my vote!

I'm not doing anything for the jubilee, except I'm watching the boats on TV.

Bit late for half term here, summer holidays start at the end of June.

Personally I feel sorry for the Queen, I mean she must be thinking "they had a million pounds to spend on a present and they bought me.... A barge." it's not a huge mark of respect really is it? :-)

Just think how big a cigar Alex could buy with that!

I hope some loonatic does not try to swim in front of the Royal Barge, serious risk of getting machine gunned.

oh, I dunno, it might liven up an otherwise dull spectacle of boats floating!

Wight, mostly overcast, one or two minor showers, wind 2 or 3 Bft south westerly gusting at 17.5mph 1006.5mb rising, Portland,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :giggle:
