Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

And there was me thinking that I had been lumbered with the last car off the production line on the Friday afternoon before their summer holidays!  :giggle:

My initial foray into the world of Blackline ownership wasn't great - it was only on the road (or my driveway) for 2 out of the first 9 weeks before the dealer finally sorted out the excellent security system that refused to let me into the damned thing in a morning. Thankfully both Skoda UK & the dealer came good in the end and offered me a most satisfactory compensation/goodwill package.

It's been in once since for a problem with the heater which seems to have been sorted with a reprogramme of the climatronic system (otherwise it would be a dash out job) and the spare wheel had to be replaced for one that would actually fit over the front brakes!

Touch wood, apart from the Amundsen unit resetting itself on the way back from Goodwood last month it's all been fine since.

I think that they were pre-drinking in the factory before their hoildays when they built mine :giggle:

I still like the car but all the trips back to the garage are starting to wear a bit thin even tho they are really sympathetic about the problems with the car and they are even booking a courtesy car for 2 days for me even tho the job should only take a day just incase there are some other problems that they discover when fixing the fault it is in for. I can't fault the dealership (except when they damaged my car and they tried to make me pay for some of the repairs :wonder: ) and one of the service girls is now letting me test drive the entire skoda range when I have them for courtesy cars. Just need the Superb (not sure if they have one of those as a courtesy car tho), Yeti and Roomster to complete the set :giggle: .

Saying that all the faults do give me an excuse to get a mk3 vrs. Or a focus st.....

Christ mate. I bet your a riot at party's. I'm closer to 40 than 30 and don't appreciate being referred to as a kid, simply because I'm looking forward to getting my Blackline. In my opinion, kids d

I'm not a fan of the Focus - the Mk3 vRS is nice but I have to admit that even after sitting in several at Goodwood I'm still not wishing I was near the end of my finance deal so I could rush out and get the new one - and I'm extremely surprised by that fact (the wife is quite relieved as well)!

I must add though - if your signature is correct, at only 17 days at the dealers so far, you are still playing at the faulty car ownership ;)

I did originally buy my vrs to keep for quite a while (about 5-6 years) but it won't be staying with me once the warrenty has run out. I'd hate to think how much SUK has had to fork out for repairs to it and I'm not willing to have the thought in the back of my mind of what will go wrong next and how much will it cost (at least at the miniute it's just what will go wrong next :giggle: ). I would rather have something 4 wheel drive and sporty next for the extra traction (vrs with haldex or even better quattro and performance pack  ) but there's not anything out there I can think of (or in development) that floats my boat so I'll be sticking with 2 wheel drive if I do change.

'Playing at the faulty car ownership' :giggle: At least yours was only one major fault and a couple of niggles and seems to be working now (touch wood). Mine loves spuriously giving random faults that are not linked together with no warning at all at the most inconvinent of times. I'm fairly sure I didn't tick the gremlin optional extra but it might just be my memory playing up. I'm obviously in it for the long haul trying to get everything working :(

I do know how you feel - once the experience has been tarnished it does knock your confidence in the car, probably for the rest of the ownership. I'm lucky that the goodwill gesture from Skoda & the dealer means that my warranty is now 5 years, as is the free servicing. I still could be tempted by something new after the three year period has passed though, although I am in a similar situation to yourself as I'm not sure what I would want - Goodwood reiterated that fact to me as even after sitting in various models/manufacturers I can honestly say that there was nothing (sensible) there that would tempt me to swap what I had in the car park.

Now if only I hadn't lost the damned thing in the car park when I went to leave and spent over 30 minutes looking for it - there were a lot of blue vRS's about that day

Interestingly, car went through a regen after parking up following a 150 mile run - should it not be clever enough to carry out a regen on a long fast run rather than wait for the engine to be switched off? Seems odd.

Ah, if you had the here's my impression of a jet engine you actually interupted the regen part way through so it abandoned the regen and switched the fans on full blast to cool everything down. It's a bit of  a pain as there's no lights to tell you it's doing one, just the tickover is higher at around 1000 rpm and it might smell a bit hot as it heats the DPF up to burn off the soot. It would have sorted itself out and had another go when the soot level build back up and if you were travelling somewhere you probably didn't even notice it was doing it's thing! I had a regen a few weeks back and I only noticed it when I stopped and the tickover was up, so I didn't switch my engine off and carried on driving until the tickover went back to normal which is the sign it's finished

Any pics of the mud flaps?

How much are they?

Do a search for mudflaps, it's been done to death and my car is shown on there.

Many thanks - thought it was still doing a regen when engine was off.

Note to self - leave the technical stuff to others more competent!

Cheets welshboy. Confusing thread. Which ones do you recommend for my racing blue black line?

I went for the rounded ones, as stated on the thread rears are easy to get from the dealer in the UK and FUBAR had to get the matching fronts.

I'm confused now. It seems 50-50 round or square. Can I ask why you went round?

Stu av traded mine in already on a black focus st. Liked the Skoda but I haven't quite been happy with the diesel/dsg pairing. In hindsight I probably should've have bought a petrol vrs. Looking forward to mid sept to collect the st.

Yeah the only two things out there that I can afford and float my boat are the focus st and the mk3 octy vrs manual tsi. I'm resisting the temtation to test drive them both because I know that if I do then I'll definitly want to trade the vrs in for one or the other.

This has just come up for sale locally

Pity I can't afford to run/insure/buy it but I can always dream.....

Anyone had there windows tinted? If yes, how much am I looking at?

how are all fellow Blackline owners getting on?

must be time for first services for some?

Nearly due second service 17.5K on the clock with service warning telling me 1.5K left to go.

14000 done maxi dot says 4500 miles or 330 days till first service

Sounds like one of you is on "fixed" and the other is on "variable"

17k on mine. Fist service done. Maxidot is on variable service, but I'm getting it done every 10k regardless.

Sticker in windscreen says service at 20k too.

Getting on with the car really we'll still love it. Think it may class as the best all round car I have and will ever own!

Recently did the Bluetooth activation and mic fit, also put some winters on the other day.

mine's on the 3 year fixed servicing deal and had hers last month at 6k. No problems at all apart from a damp smell I couldn't find the sourceof after a recent mega clean and pre winter detail which has now gone. Cars going great guns, has been averaging long term top end 40's mpg brim to brim actual and low 50's on a run. I'm still made up with her AND SWMBO hasn't got hold of the keys yet. Don't know where I'll go next in a few years time as the cost to change for a mk3 vRS wil be a big hit if I want to keep the goodies the old gal has, all of which I use.

Bought my Blackline new end January 2013.  Mileage currently 5,000 and will go to dealer for first service in less than two months time.

Car running perfectly with no faults to report.  Note this includes no DPF faults/issues with my low annual mileage, yay!

Would get another VRS again (want a white diesel estate with sunroof this time), small problem is the big price jump, yikes.

Mine has a rattle in the boot lid ....something must have come off inside the plastic cover which has popped off on one side as well. Other than that running perfectly

I am on fixed every 10Kish miles.

ish! I panic if it goes over! Ideally it should rollover to the xx,000 as I drive into the garage!!!!

Mine was in for its first service in october and it didn't cost me a penny since I've got the 3 year/30000 mile free servicing with the finance. It hadn't even done 7000 miles in the year before it went for its service but most of my trips are reasonably long so I've had no dpf problems. I've had no end of problems with the car but I'm slowly ironing them out. I almost traded it in it was that bad, the only reason that I didn't is there was nothing else out there that I wanted.
