Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

1st free service done last month at 7k miles. No issues whatsoever and I still love the car. No intention of changing to the mk3 when it's 3 years old, especially as I found out one of the "dual" exhaust pipes on the new VRS are merely cosmetic. That's a little bit "Halfords".

Will stick with the blackline and maybe add a remap !

Christ mate. I bet your a riot at party's. I'm closer to 40 than 30 and don't appreciate being referred to as a kid, simply because I'm looking forward to getting my Blackline. In my opinion, kids d

Ive had 2 services on mine since last october. Cars on 22000 miles all ready. :(

Jan 13 DSG estate having its first service today. Couple of minor niggles but nothing you couldnt just live with if you had to. I do have an intermittent issue with my DAB radio not working but happens so rarely dont see the point in getting them to investigate as they wont find ought.

DAB is not 100%, I live 6 miles from Wenvoe (Welsh) transmitter and when I drive in to town the line of sight is lost and the radio cuts out but as soon as I am in open air it comes back. Not a fault in the radio but the distribution of DAB. One of the reasons why the switchover of digital radio is a long way off.

The limitations of DAB are clear but not off putting - its not a perfect system.

With a digital signal the broadcast quality is either there or not and that is why the signal can drop off a cliff - whereas FM/MW signal goes gradually with hiss/interference etc.

However, on balance I find it a lot better than FM/MW and would not want to go back.

Hi guys no my DAB actually occasionally stops working altogether, the little "no signal" symbol comes up and its impossible to tune it to any DAB station, local or otherwise. Using the DAB monitor it states it has a good signal for a second or two then states no signal but in a mute state and just does this repeatedly. Leaving the car off and locked for a period of time brings it all back. Has perhaps happened 3 or 4 times since ive owned the car.

Thing is it happens so rarely and sorts itself out that getting it to remain broken long enough for the dealers to diagnose a fault is impossible; doubt itll store any fault codes also.

Agree though DAB is excellent and where i live in South Oxon coverage is generally excellent, when it does muck about im lost as i tend to listen to listen to stations you cant get on FM.

In any case i'm likely chopping the Blackline in shortly for a O3 2.0 TDi Elegance estate as Ive organised an OK deal on one and its a bit more frugal and cheaper to run and has a softer ride for the wife and kids....non descript looks, similar performance and a few more toys also a bit of a lure.

I will be selling my DSG privately for as new mk3 in about March/April. Dealer offering me a depressing £14k I'm sure I could get £15.5k private sale.

I was also posted about £15,600 by we buy any car for weeks ago. They then dropped the offer by a thousand the following month.

Cant beleive how much bl have depreciated in a few months since the mrk3 vrs realese. I got a quote befor mrk3 and was more or less the same value I payed.

Depends how much the dealer wants the business I guess.

My dealer is pretty good.....they never offer me a financial incentive on the new cars as Skoda have done a fair bit of that already but so far theyve always given me a v good part ex; typically you'll only get discount of sorts at one end of the deal from the dealer at least unless they make their margins in volume sales and can afford to give a bit away.....these are few and far between however.

Had my first service on October.  Also have the 3 year free servicing with the finance package. Only issue has been a small rattle from behind the dash which was sorted during the service.  Listers Skoda in Coventry have been spot on.  The car itself has been brilliant.  Fast, massive boot, fast, great MPG, fast, looks great.  Did I mention its fast?  Having said that I'm tempted by a tuning box now, either from DTUK or TDI-Tuning.  Anyone used either of these on their BL?

I think values will go back up as there will be no mk3's in the market for ages. Can't get them new, never mind used!

Have a look at the above. A tuning box appeals to me too as a remap involves the tuner taking the ecu out and enabling it as the cr ecu is encrypted while the dt tuning box just plugs in so you can take it off if you want.

Think the dealer above wasn't that interested in doing a deal as mine said only a couple of months ago that he could sell mine for what I paid for it. The price differential (especially when a mk3 is spec'd to add the bits missing the the BL has) and the lack of mk3s about used should see blacklines residuals remain good for some time, though I'm keeping mine......

Mines retained about 1300 quids worth of equity at only 10 months old, only put 750 of my own cash in at the time so cant argue really.

Has put me in the position where I can buy a 23k 2.0 TDi Elegance estate without dipping into my own pocket for less money a month than the BL is costing me. Sure its not remotely sporty but its near as damn it as fast and better equipped, bit more comfortable for a blossoming family too as I have found the ride on the Mk2 over-firm and suspect the MK3 vRS is much the same.

Decided a TSi vRS would be the one to go for if I did the vRS thing again but the considerably greater monthly PCP cost and inevitable bigger running costs put me off.

  • 1 month later...

Quick update for anyone that may be interested.

Blackline now a year old.  No faults/probs whatsoever in 4,500 miles (note no DPF problems - ya beauty).

Booked car for first service via Skoda website a few weeks ago.  Went back to dealer who I bought the car off: Newmarket Garage, Bannockburn, Stirling.  When booking asked for loan vehicle and noted that service was free as part of VW finance deal.

Went today to hand over the car, dealer all ready for me, handed me the keys to a Rapid (nice car (similar size to my Octavia?) but a noticeable drop in internal quality compared to what I have got imo) loan vehicle (note no drawing of breath unlike some VW dealers when getting a loan vehicle!!!  All I was asked to do was fill it with some fuel with what I had used).

Went back early afternoon, Blackline serviced and ready for pickup - no problems at all.

I can honestly say that Skoda ownership has been the least hassle and smoothest experience in 20 years of motoring.  Customer service is top notch.

Newmarket had a blue Octavia VRS Mk3 estate and it did look awesome.  If my next two years of motoring are as smooth it is highly likely I will be replacing my Blackline with something similar (pennies permitting).

Hope others are getting as much fun/value as I am.

Cheers.

same here, mine has 4100 miles on clock now and 14 months old, not an ounce of problem and dealers have been great, they phoned me to book car in for service and also had a phone call just to see how I'm getting on with car a year later and if everything is OK, most impressed! when I had service done they said rear wiper motor was a bit noisy so swapped it under warrenty, sounds same to me and they even said they couldn't make it quiter! nothing wrong with it IMO!

the only thing annoying is service guys dragging their grubby feet over my sills :wall:

no DPF issues either :)

my only regret was buying a 10 week old one when I could have shopped round for a new one in Race Blue (the colour I originally wanted) still looks the buisness when cleaned up though :)

Similar to you I've had no problems at all and have ben very pleased with mine. Its now 15 months old with just under 8k on the clock so looks like I'm a high miler :giggle:

My dealer did my 1st service while I waited, in and out in no time as it's only an oil and filter change.

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the mk3 vRS estate but each to their own. No doubt  I'll get one at sometime though as there's nothing else that's close IMO for the money.

Front tyres are wearing down though, don't know why..... ;)

Just waiting for other members to come along telling us we are dafties for buying a diesel with that kind of mileage.

I like the economy I am getting and only visiting the fuel station once a month - and power output is more than enough for me.

I would have gone for petrol version but this was cheaper and no petrols were left anyway (unless you hunted around), I love the fact it does 40-50mpg and goes like stink at same time :)

Ditto, first service done this week 12 months and nearly 8,000 miles ................only one minor problem after 2weeks was a faulty antenna affecting sat nav, which was a known problem and sorted within an hour on a sat morning.......

BA - i realised mine was a year old this week as well (23rd Jan)

other than the faulty ABS sensor on the day we collected it, I've had no complaints about the car in the ~11,000 miles since then.

the car, on the other hand, might not have appreciated my catching a kerb at 30mph a few months ago, scraping a large amount of black off the alloy, or me catching the real wheelarch flank on my inlaws' garden/driveway wall over Christmas resulting in a rather large scratch ( must remember to take a pic in the daylight and show you all the fruits of my ineptitude)

Like Marco says the BL was a bargain....and you'll get a much better deal from any dealer when you want to trade it in. Low milage diesel sir, step this way.....
