MFD second speed indicator

Featured Replies

Hi, I am about to through my toys out of the pram.

The second speed indicator shows in kilometres per hour and I want it to show in mph. The radio button elsewhere in the mfd is set for mph and the owners manual says that it can be reset using button 3 (on the left of the instrument cluster) No idea how to do this as the manual seems to have forgotten to put the instructions in!

I can get the the mfd and change the time using button three (and 7) but cannot find any way to scroll down to the second speed indicator.

PLEASE HELP! Whiskey bottle getting low.

Thanks, fed up from Tunbridge Wells

Very well covered on the site, it cant be changed by user input, needs VCDS

Legal requirement to display speed in KMH on dash, as speedo in mph only they put it on the mfd.

Yes you need to get one of us who has VCDS to hook it up to your car to make the changes.

I think the only legal requirement is that the speedo/MFD has the ability to display KMH. You don't need to display KMH. I can change mine back in seconds via the MFD. Not an MOT failure as I have the ability to display both.

Just a thought: if you set it to display MPH, will it say EXACTLY the same as the speedo, or will it correct the speedo's inaccuracy (in my car's case about 5%)? I only ask because if it is part of the GPS system it may well show a slightly different reading from the mechanically (I assume) derived reading of the speedo.

Although the Columbus is a fabulous piece of kit, I do miss my separate Garmin sat-nav, which gave me a more accurate mph reading, independent of the car.

The speedo is not like the older vehicles it has an electronic sender from the gearbox to the speedo head, so I would assume that it will give the same reading.

My speedo reads exactly 2mph fast at 70 mph, this has been checked with two gps speedometers and stopwatch between mile marks.

it displays exactly the same as the main speedo since they both have the same input source, so both will display 70mph at the same time.

Thanks to all who have replied, and thanks to Ray in Crowborough for his offer. As the car is only three days old I am reluctant to start messing about with it other than what is already available, And Auric Goldfinger, this is exactly what I want to do but do not seem to have the option to select second speed indicator from the MFD although this shows as an option in the handbook.

I will be out of the country on business from now for the next week, so please don't think me rude if I don't reply promptly.

Cheers all.

Mine is also just 2mph out measured against my trusty old TomTom...and 2mph out at all speeds so more accurate than on my old Vectra.

Just noticed your location, great part of the country...we're just back from a long weekend in Perranporth...great fun!

You chose the best time of year...I am off to Goathland North Yorkshire for the War Weekend on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

I can also confirm that my speedo reads 2mph over through the complete range, this was the same on my last three Superb Elegance vehicles, tyre wear difference hardly noticeable.

You lucky thing...the A169 from Pickering up to Whitby is my most favourite piece of road on the planet. I usually stop at the Hole of Horcum for a gasp at the view!
