My car is booked in for next Thursday to be put in the diagnosis system as when I picked it up from repair centre it didn't want to open or start, guy started it using minus terminal on battery, next day same thing and after a 30 miles drive

So call out skoda Assistance (RAC) starts it using proper way, said battery wasn't charging properly

Alternator??

Does it have the cover?

  • Doesn't touch the alternator at all and there is a pipe running down in front of the said shield and alternator, aircon pipe maybe. It started raining when I looked earlier, I'll take some pics of it

  • Found it !!! Here is the pic of the front radiator/grille assembly when it was removed from the car to trial fit the new engine. This is the non-Greentec 60PS SE. (With the same cover as a 75PS Gree

  • Looked at the Cititgo's in my dealer this pm. None had the 'cover'. Checked in the parts dept listings and it is not shown as a separate part either, only the complete plastic frame known as a 'loc

Look through the radiator grille, if you can see the alternator then you haven't got a cover.

Yep I've checked mine and I have the plastic guard.

I received mine in mid April this year

It's an elegance 75 automatic

No guard.... black air con pipe... loads of discoloured aluminium on that side of the engine. Now treated with WCF50 , but doesn't look like new.

The guard is needed to keep all the winter salt spray etc out of the engine bay.

I should add that the original Skoda explanation for the cover issue does not appear to be true. This may be to eliminate a recall, or just to cover an embarrassing factory error.

For anybody that hasn't got a cover its very easy to do.Takes 5 mins to make and fit. When I got my Citigo last year I never believed Skoda's explanation and made my own to protect the alternator and ancillaries at that end of the engine. It's worked 100% - all looks as new after a salty winter. All the cars in the local showroom have them fitted.
