Lovely looking car

Exciting news! Here’s the first glimpse of a brand new ŠKODA family member. Due date, late 2012. Please say hello to the ŠKODA Rapid, a lovely, spacious, compact hatch. You like?

ŠKODA Rapid: “It perfectly embodies the brand’s values: fresh design, functionality, roominess, ingenuity, and price-to-value ratio typical for our cars,” said ŠKODA CEO Winfried Vahland at the brand’s press conference in Beijing. “This car makes a clear statement: precise and emotional. Lots of room for the driver, passengers and luggage. An ideal car for families. Simply clever.” The European version of ŠKODA’s Rapid will reach UK showrooms from late 2012.

Apparently the dealers are off the their launch event in the next couple of weeks.

I'd like to see the vRS version, otherwise I'm not that impressed. It's just an Octavia isn't it? Autocar didn't rate it that highly either - lumpy ride and no power :(

I'll probably get pelters for this but I don't think it's nice looking at all and I hope the new octavia is not bigger version of it.....please!

it is the same, this is no new Octavia

I still think it´s the "new" Fabia, out soon with a wagon

Nope horrible, looks like a Proton with a hint of Hyundia.

the review over this way say that the interior is to plastic and not as comfort as the Octavia.

Scroll down and see some nice pics including a "VRS RAPID" maybe, one black and one white

Would consider one if they do a vRS version

The same engine as the Fabia vRS would be good IMO

Don't like at all

I'd pass on the engine tbh. I have it in my car now and am on no2..

You like buying oil then?

I reckon its a great engine, but it does like to drink oil, and lots of it.

Is this not in the wrong section?

Just had a look at the prices and spec, £17K ouch for the 1.6tdi CR and they have been cost cutting as it uses drum brakes on the rear

http://www.skoda.co....ages/rapid.aspx

If that is what the Rapid1.6tdi CR version costs then what will the new Octavia Mk 3 vrs cost a lot more I would guess.

Was told by a dealer yesterday the new Octavia will be 'more upmarket' and so be more expensive

I am afraid I just don't "get" the Rapid. It is so anonymous and does not appear to take the brand anywhere.
