Advice when buying used Fabia

Featured Replies

I am an ex-pat living in Spain and am considering buying a 2004 Fabia 1.4 Sport 16v and was after some advice of what I should look out for. The vehicle has done 83,000km and looks clean. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Graeme

There are lots of "problem" threads which show the main common faults whith the car.....

The rear doors leak....solved by re-sealing the window carrier plate to the door

The power steering sensor is faulty....solved by replacing the older black plastic capped sensor with new improved metal caped sensor

The front anti-roll bar bushes go........solved by fitting new ones and a new bar (depending on design)

The front console bushes go........solved by fitting new "X" type or Powerflex/Superpro versions

The front drop links go.....solved by fitting new ones

Also fitting a new fuel filter, cleaning the throttle body, fitting the correct spark plugs and new leads, and running on the correct higher octane fuel will all make it run better and solve most of the "bad running" problems that are associated with these engines!
