Finally found LED number plate lights that work

Featured Replies

I know I'm gutted, thought these were finally the bulbs to do the job, but can't say they won't definitely work until they're tried with vcds coding.

Mine arrived today, I swapped them over and sure enough, the error light popped up. Shame, they're a much better match for the bulbs I have at the front. If the car just thinks a bulb has blown, would there be any damage to continue using? (just out of interest, I appreciate this prevents knowing when another bulb has blown for real).

Will be good to hear if anyone has the error, but fixes through coding. Otherwise I just bin 'em.

If the heatsinked LED's still don't work without the VCDS change, surely it would be better not to load the system and just use non canbus LED festoons?

It'll show you if other bulbs have blown. It'll go through the list on the MAXIDOT.

Same on mine, error light popped up on dash.

I've got VCDS though so will look at coding the LED light in next few days to see what that does.

I know on my MY11 Superb and SWMBO's MY11 TT ticking the box in VCDS made no difference at all, I still got the bulb out error on the maxidot / DIS.

Off-the-shelf "CAN-BUS" friendly LED's not working on Facelift Octavia shocker - or rather why am I in no way surprised that these, like the hundreds of sets already tried do not work without an error light? :)

Resistor pack is the only option....or stick to standard bulbs.

What about these? I unticked the tailgate cold loading (something like that) tickbox today so will see:-

can someone put a screen shot of the option so i can check have done the right one?

Changing the "cold warning" option has made no difference at all in the past. Those ones you've linked to look the same as the many, many sets already tried by many, many people - they'll give you a bulb-out warning sooner rather than later.

Maybe I should go with the set currently on test that have so far showed no errors.

Which set is that? As I ordered the same set as the person who started this topic, and as per my previous posts, they still give bulb out warnings! Having said that, I can't confirm they don't after editing the coding with vcds, as I don't have access to it.

Back to Plan "A" I think

Back to Plan "A" I think

scrap the car?

That's a seriously expensive hobby for something you will rarely see yourself.

I will get the OP's type and see if my coding works.

Well got back from Paris tonight after an almost 1000 mile round trip (fitted these day or so before I went) and still no errors or any problems. Sorry to see other people having issues with error lights.

There must be a reason mine work and everyone else's doesn't. The only difference I can think of is either

1: my coding is set to led number plate lights (although as said for others made no difference)

2: My byte 18 coding was set for "tail lights on with DRL's" (on all the time essentially) using the dealer VAS tool

Confirmed as working on my Blackline with the VCDS mod done. Looks loads better.

Anyone got any experience of these

On car systems.eu?

Got mine today put them in warning light on .will I do any damage driving with this light on .

I wonder if this has anything to do with yours being 2012 models?

Meeting a buddy with vcds on Saturday. Can you point me to what needs to be ticked please?

Thanks

This is from a TT, so the Byte and Bit may be different, but the wording will be the same (Bit 6):

As you can see it is not active (it was before I changed it) but it still gave a DIS (maxidot) error on a MY11 car.

So....I buy on recommendation of the OP....to be told they actually dont work after all

Don't say I didn't try to warn you :bandit:

Someone who knows what they're doing did mine but it was easy to find and clearly labelled in VCDS. Took only 2 mins to find.

Possibly could be to do with it being 2012 as they seem to be changing everything over to LEDs.
