Hey

I am looking into doing the grill on my car and maybe then the full car once I have used it enough

Anyone have any experience from this? I know a few people have dipped there grill!

Yep I've done my grille and spolier.

Still looks good a few months later :)

Could you do a whole car?

Could you do a whole car?

in theory - yes, but you'll need **** loads :D Better to get it vinyl wrapped if you want to do the whole car, or a respray.

there's a thread somewhere with an Octy being carbon wrapped, if you can find it, it might give you an idea.

Dead easy, just did mine over the weekend. Got some new foglight surrounds so they got the treatment too.

I did 3 coats of it which has given it a pretty good finish. I didn't need to prime the chrome grille or anything.

Anyone know anywhere that has black in stock?

Buggers were supposed to email me when they had it in stock :D

I made the mistake of paying £16 for a can off Ebay..... :wall:

Once you factor in VAT and delivery, that's the same price as the website.

Its a hell of a lot cheaper to plastidip the car than it is to wrap it. All in it cost me around 400 including airless strayer.

I'm considering doing my wheels in this. looks the bee's knee's but don't know how long the stuff will actually last...

It lasts about 8-12 months depending on damages etc

I plasti-dipped the chrome part of my grill black at the weekend. Didn't even need to take the badge off either. I did 4 coats, leaving 20 minutes between coats, left it overnight to dry, and peeled it off my badge leaving the grill looking pretty good.

Planning on doing my wheels and b-pillars in the future, but will have to buy plenty more of the stuff!

That looks good I have ordered a can so will see what happens!

I was interested in the plastidip too - until I learnt it would be useful for about 12 months lol

Might as well just respray - it would be cheaper in the long term. But that little idea I got rid of anyway it would be more practical to just change the car in honestly and I did look about for an octy 1.8 tsi which makes a lot of sense but they are rare as.

I just plastidipped the grille matt black and Im a lot happier with its look now, it was a bit too girly (specially being yellow) with a chrome grille. Looks much meaner with the black one instead grrrrr lol and fits in better with the black parts on the front

Thats the hole point just peal it off and start again with a new colour or the same.

I know not carbon wrapped, but are you thinking of this thread?

Matte Black Octavia vrs He did it all himself.

There are a few people on here who have wrapped thier Fabias. From black car to a white.

By chance I stumbled upon a 'project' thread what someone had sprayed plasti dip on the whole of his car.

Based literally across the road from me too - can see my house in some of the photos. Had been wondering what had been done to change the colour too!

Ha no way?! Are you the red octy down the road?

Nope, number 7, with the dead Polo and silver 3 series. Small world!
