The recaros look to have the same hinge system as the fabia. Im not sure if its because the a3 seats are 3 door so have a different hinge for the part that releases the seat to allow people in the rear.

Getting the foam part and seat cover off the base is the easy part ;) why not put the back foam and cover on with the little handle without the handle actually doing anything? So you dont actually swap the base over just the foam? Or if it gets too much swap the hole lote for mine i have no problems with that ;)

Soooo found a lovely patch of paint lifting from my rear arch today :( its about 3-4 inches long and rusting. My inner arch has always been battered since the new wheels but i think now the salt is on the road its chipping it and lifted it up. Bloody silly pokey out wheels, would of been worse if they wasn't wonky aswell though ;)

This what happened to me Joe but running standard wheels and big spacers, managed to find mine before it rusted and it went to the body shop a few days later :)

How much dan if you dont mind sharing? My bro will do it but its good to have a price to go off. Thing is no point in my doing it untill i get more stretch on the rear and lower it more and customise the bump stop so it stops before hitting the arch.

£330 and had the rear bumper done too. They even de-tarred the whole car and have it a clean :)

Thats a good price mate. Hopefully will have new tyres on the rear and sort the bump stops soon and get it all sprayed with my new front and get the rear redone at same time.

Made some progress on the seats today. Sorry about picture quality my phone has gone rubbish latley.

One arse section swapped over on to the fabia base.

The drill and hacksaw will be out tomorrow because of the difference i was trying to explain before.

Fabia bracket

A3 bracket.

As you can see there is only one hole for the spline bit to go through on the a3 seats and then the mechanism inside that hooks and realises. I need to cut all the mechanism out then drill a new hole in the bracket so it can bolt on to the fabia base. Its the same both sides, i have lined it up and im very confidant it will work.

**** me you've bitten off something here haven't you! Looks like it would give me a head ache :( but I reckon you'll be fine and will be worth the effort (and the wait :giggle: )

Its not to bad when you see it in the flesh jay honest. I should have the one done tomorrow. Biggest headache was getting the leather on the base, even though i took it off i forgot how it went on and thought this isnt going to work but then it clicked and flew on.

I looked at the guide done by Pasty (I think it was Cliff?) to remove the OEM seat covers to put them through the washing machine and thought sod that! Looked too intricate for my big hands :D

Getting them off is easy its just putting them back on was my issue. Once figured out was so simple, I sat on them for more give aswell to be able to pull them abit easier.

I love the sheer effort gone into this, Joe. So much time and dedication! Good on ya!

Cheers mike. Need a sticker saying "bodged not bought" instead of "built not bought"

Hows the z coming on? Seen yours and the s2k intense interior clean, now thats dedication.

Awesome looks great Joe :)

Nice work joe, the seats look great. When I put the sports seats in mine I had to swop the foam base from old to new so I know how much of a pain this job would have been

Yer clipping the fabric back down was probably harder than modifying the a3 brackets to fit. I wouldn't say its a harf job so far just fiddly and takes time getting all the bolts off etc.

Those little hooks that fasten the seat cover to the metal ring in the foam is the fiddly part I'm guessing your on about  it took me forever to get them back on

Nice 1 joe :) thinking outside the box.. thats what its all about pal ;)

Passenger seat in. The backs are so much more supportive as you can probably see in this picture.

Looks good Joe. Love all the hard work you have put into this build.

Dont tempt me ahaa

I keep wanting leathers. But the fact i have the fabia sport seats puts me off it :') just need the confidence to rip them apart and refit my heated seats from my old interior

Sent using Tapatalk, like a bawsss!

Also want to give a big thank you to pasty boy for the initial idea and the guide as i would not of took this on with out seeing that...

no bother buddy.

i did my recaros purely for me and cos it was something i hadn't really seen done at the time.

Am glad that it has proved such an inspiring conversion and a useful guide thread.

yours seat look good btw. I did hear of a guy who bought a chequerboard set of A3 seats to upgrade his non-VRS Fabia but bailed out once he realised that it wasn't exactly a straight swap. Glad you stuck with it and have got a good result.
