Where to buy VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi all never used a VCDS but i could do with getting one i think. I would like to do my own fault finding an maintenance on my two Octy VRS's. Question is where is the best place to buy from, what will the cost be and which version should i get.

Im sure maybe someone has asked the same question but i couldn't find it.

Ross Tech have a list of official distributors: http://www.ross-tech...stributors.html

The most versatile package is the HEX-USB+CAN which will support all models and costs about £260.

There is a guy called Nigel Hobden, who posts over at audi-sport.net with the screen name NHN

He sells genuine Ross-Tech cables for £250 delivered (Special Delivery)

Thanks ken, glad you're happy with your cable, enjoy using :)

Try Gendan which is where I got mine from and would recommend.

Hex-CAN+USB;

or the cheaper

Micro-CAN (if you only have Golf Mk5 platform cars to work on).

Right i think im ordering the Micro-CAN USB from Gendan later can anyone give me any sensible reason why i should go for the full monty. I have got rid of My 1996 Audi A4 otherwise i would have needed the full monty version allthough can't see me ever getting and older car than the ones i have 2005 & 2012 Octavia VRS, mum has a 2008 VW Sharan so as long as it can cope with these 3 models then i think the Micro is the one. Will it work on newer models when released or just MK5 platform? I.E. firmware upgrade.

The Micro-CAN will not work on some newer models either, the Polo and Fabia spring to mind.

A proper HEX-USB+CAN cable will be easier to sell if you ever wanted to move it on, due to its greater versatility.

Nigel ( [email protected] ) sells this for £250 delivered and is fully authorised by Ross-Tech. His is the best UK price, and he mails out Special Delivery next day service.

Either PM NHN or email him at the address I put further up the thread. He will send you an invoice, which you pay by bank transfer. Have no worries about sending Nigel your money. Loads of folks have bought their cable from him and can vouch for his soundness

Always download it from RT direct mate, as you get the latest versions always & shows authenticity of the cables as only genuine works with downloads.

Thanks Ken, appreciate the input.
