  • Yes, for basic use the 300 looks like an absolute bargain to me. These are cost prices BTW, I do not earn out of this group buy. I am doing it because I think on the roads today, with insurance clai

In which unit? I use a 32gb card fine in my 400G, and I gather i can use my 16gb card in my 300G. Not done the swap yet as the 4gb card captures enough given the resolution setting/file sizes.

I have a 400G, I will buy a 32gb off 7dayshop or amazon and see how it goes, thanks.

Yeah - mine's on the highest setting and it records well over 10 hours of footage I think, before it starts over writing. From memory, roughly 3Gb per hour.

I have a real issue with the settings as I have to borrow a PC to change them, the software is not Mac compatible, I am assured that a Mac version will be available this year though.

I want a bigger card because I did a week in Ireland before xmas, the footage I wanted was all up and around the falls road, murals on houses and that, because I didn't empty the card it was all overwritten!

Now I know a bigger card works I will buy one.

Thanks

This is where carrying around a laptop and SD reader can be useful. You can download the footage and then carry on

After my last Cadwell trip, just in case it did overwrite, I pulled the plug for my journey home. :)

I am hopefully doing a full day at Oulton Park on Feb 9th, £109 for an open pit lane day. Then off the CC with you guys and who knows where after that!

I have bought the extra windscreen mount and lead so I can wire the Fabia up for the camera, should be good fun, I am also trying to get a mate of mine who races in HSCC to sit in for a few laps at Oulton as he is familiar with the place to say the least.

Do you fancy Oulton Park on 9th February? It is road cars only and open pit lane.

The older 300 unit doesn't like anything bigger than an 8gb card, it can cause isssues... which is fine as the resolution is lower.

All the later models will work happilly on a 32gb card.

It's looking like I'll end up organising another GB soon. (as in, within a few weeks)

Would be very interested if payment is possible after payday! ;-)

I'm usually pretty flexible if it helps people.

If you don't want the unit for a few weeks I can always hold it back, as long as a £30 deposit is paid.

Shall we start a new list to see if there is much interest?

Being a total electrical numpty this for me would have to be "wired in" to a socket in the car.

1) Does anyone know if the supplied cigarette lighter lead is long enough for this on a Yeti

2) I take it that tp prevent battery drain I could just unlpug it from the camera

3) I leave the car in some strange places. Is the camera easily removeable or is it a case of once stuck then that's it

The lead is very long and should be no trouble in a Yeti. In the Fabia for now I've tucked it into the headlining, don the pillar, behind the wheel, down then under the centre plastic. There's loads of it.

Until those with greater knowledge respond:

Q1 - #18 (James I)

The cable is 4.5 metres

Q2 - Reading throught the 9 pages of posts it appears that even with two cameras fitted it would take several days to drain the battery

Q3 - On several of the posts the members talk about removing the unit to put in another vehicle for an event - they purchased an extra screen mount and power cable to be able to do so.

Richard, do you have any idea if it will work with a 64Gb, class 10, SDXC card?

  • Author

I know they all (380+400) work with 32bg cards, the 64gb may be too big.

I don't have a 64gb micro SD card to test.

you could of course use this http://www.blackvueh...r_Magic_Pro.php

this allows you to have the camera on while parked up and monitor anything that comes near it

I thought about this... but then, if you take a hit from anywhere other than in front of the camera, you don't see the culprit. :wonder:

out of interest if i purchased one and told my insurance i was using one, would my insurance go down?

You can buy and fit as many as you like. There is a vloger on youtube in UK that has 4 so he can see into peoples cars as they pass him on motorways or he passes them. Catches the abusive stuff people might be waving about etc.

I have heard of some companies reducing premiums but while I do like that idea I would not be using it on policy for a discount as if I forgot the micro SD card etc and had an accident who knows what the reaction from insurance would be when you didnt have the thing you got a discount for in use...... But I have never heard any increasing! They are a big help in reducing fraudulent claims your fault or not and accident people tend to milk it.

Richard you are a gentleman and a scholar, thanks for starting this up again so soon after the last one for us all. I will add the group buy message to my signature.
