  • thought you boys might find this amusing!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5dL4DPm-DE

  • Yes, for basic use the 300 looks like an absolute bargain to me. These are cost prices BTW, I do not earn out of this group buy. I am doing it because I think on the roads today, with insurance clai

Took a snippet off mine today. I'd not changed it to MPH at this time, although for some reason in this clip, it doesn't find a satellite to get speed signal from. This is the medium resolution, through limo tints, with water on the screen (de-wipered)

Actually the more I watch this clip, the more I feel like its running at at +10%/+15% ? I'm not sure if the music is a little quick,

I found all drive recorders register an accident/event when I accelerate in the GT-R, so I slide the thing all the way over and turn the event recording off.

This way it just records constantly on a loop as big as the SD card.

As I swap the units from one car to another I leave it like that.

How do you turn event recording off? Slid them all the all the way to the left but it still does it

It seems that BlackVue may have changed the way they store the 1-3 minute clips on the 400G HD II, as there appears to be no overlap when stitching the clips together. Which is nice.

I get overlap when stitching a few clips together on my V2 400G.

Right, it seems a software update has been sorted for the 400v2 units so they don't have to be sent back.

I've sent a copy to one user to double check it works.

I tried it on a spare 400v2 unit that was talking Korean and it's now fine.

So all being well this will very shortly be resolved.

In order to make my life slightly easier, as not all the 400v2 units were Korean, please PM me if you got one that was not talking English.

Many thanks.

This has been double checked and is working, I'll start distributing tomorrow.

edit :- Info on Korean to English Updates sent.

By the way I've got a 400v2 unit available. (unwanted order)

Already updated to English. :)

This being the 1st opportunity to check the 2 cameras I am initially not impressed - The 8gb SD card that came with SWMBOS's 380g camera did not have the blackvue folder & contents on it - it was completely blank, however my 4gb card that came with my 300 did, so i have copied it to the 8gb card for SWMBO's, :o

Lets see where it goes from here ?

As per my post on page 5ish...

It has been brought to my attention that the SD cards are blank. This is not a problem.

Please insert it into the camera and power the unit up with the blank card in it.

It takes a minute or two before it starts recording because it will download the software from it's hard store on the camera to the SD card.

This way you can stick any blank card in.

If the software was on the card, you would be stuffed if the card got damaged in use.

The software will be copied from the unit to a blank SD card the first time you use it.

So if you buy a new SD card, you just pop it in and it copies the latest files and config settings to it from the hard storage in the unit.

What you may now have done is copied the config file from the 300 (which has less resolution options) to a higher resolution unit, limiting it to run at the 300 units capabilities.

If so I'll bring a copy of the 380 firmware to the Maidstone meet on the 5th January for you, so you can update the unit back to 380 spec.

Same happened here but Richard explained why in an earlier post - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/257399-blackvue-drive-recorders-group-buy-list-closed/page__st__120#entry3056863 - I'd found out the same after a prompt reply from support.

Both cameras are English

Copying the directory from the 300 to the 380 didnt work, it shouted at me it was wrong, so i formatted sd card & inserted blank, & it now copied as mentioned the directory from the camera to Sd card & works

That's good. :)

Funny thing I get now is because the cameras are different models I get all the talking at different times. The 300G is quicker to turn on it seems, so I get its speech, before the 400G, and the same when turning off as well. :D I've also noticed I must have used two different types of switched live, as the back camera turns on and off when in the actual pre-ignition stage, but the front camera doesn't turn off until the key is actually removed from the barrel. Does not affect me in the slightest - just an observation.

Just out of curiosity, for those that have gone the fuse piggy back route, which fuse are you linking into? I linked into the 12v (I think) and after about 5 meters the car died and would not start again until I removed the fuse piggy back and reinserted the fuse!!!! Any ideas?

My front camera is wired into a blank slot in the fusebox, fed by an ignition live.

When it was serviced, they pulled the fuse. Clearly they knew it should be an empty slot. :D

My rear camera is wired to an ignition live that goes to the rear windscreen wiper.

This keeps the wires in the tailgate with no need to feed it through to the vehicle body.

The current ask of the cameras is so little there's no real harm splicing into existing wiring for other things (like the rear wiper for example that I used for my rear facing cam) The wiring is so tiny on the camera 12V feed that it could be spliced into most wiring, and it will not overload the fuse already designated for that circuit. :)

May I ask which empty fuse slot you used Richard?

Update downloaded and it's all good - thanks BossFox

Gaz

The second unit I ordered turned out to be one of the Korean firmware ones. That's now updated successfully to English. Thanks

I'll have to have a look tomorrow as I'm tucked up in bed right now.

Have had a bug all over Christmas.

All the family have, it's been interesting...

Updated to english now, all working fine, many thanks BossFox

Been playing with the 300 and very happy with it!!

Just one thing...I'm probably being stupid but how do you change the date and time? Mine insists on recording in July 2011 :wonder:

any help would be much appreciated

Have you checked the settings in the blackvue application? When you read the card on a PC/laptop/whatever, in the blackvue program there is a cog symbol in the top right where you can change the clip lengths, turn off/on voice bits. Just not sure about the date & time. I would have assumed it got this from the PC being read from?

Have you left it running for a while?

I think it gets the date and time from the GPS signal.

Yep have checked all the settings etc. I thought that connecting it to the PC would update it to the current time, or that the GPS might update it but nothing has done it so far. Can live without it, but just one of those little niggles :nerd:
