Like FUBAR, I can't see the point of seeing the video on your smartphone when you are supposed to be driving.

BUT, maybe there is more to it.

I'll ask.

How about the camera being rear facing and using the Phone as a rear view monitor? :-)

  • Yes, for basic use the 300 looks like an absolute bargain to me. These are cost prices BTW, I do not earn out of this group buy. I am doing it because I think on the roads today, with insurance clai

One of these would be good for that :p http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Bluetooth-Rearview-Mirror-Kit-GPS-Dashcam-Parking-Camera-Speed-Detection-/280963773325?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416abef38d Camera's are pretty poor designed for LHD and overall quality not the best, oh and they are massive!!! But I would love some day for a decent one to be made especially with real sat nav in it. Man' gadget and a half that!

some video recorded on an old Roadhawk RH1 car black box on the M4 last week

video frames cut down in size to fit onto forum

watch out for the hovis lorry cutting me up in the 3rd lane of M4 in roadworks when 3rd lane restricted to 6'6" width cars only

should play on Windows Media Player

Personally I would report him/her over 7.5ton is not even allowed in 3rd lane regardless of a width restriction which makes it twice as bad again, there are several exceptions which allow it to be used but not in this video at all! Total moron of a driver IMO.

It's a good video, you should post it up in the Briskoda Drive Recorder Footage Thread here so more can see it. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/260737-the-briskoda-drive-recorder-video-footage-thread/

I'm interested in the 380G and the 400G. Not sure if its worth spending the extra on a 400G, especially as I can get the DR380G for £160. Would the newer model be worth the extra £50? And do either have problems with over heating? In the summer more so I'm guessing?

Thanks

Overheating problems were on some 400mk1 units, current mk2 version has been altered to run cooler.

If you don't need DVD quaity, just regular HD the 380 is fine.

Guys, I've just joined from rs246.com where your group buy was recommended to me after my wife had a run in with another driver. Are you happy for me to join your group buy?

(I drive an Audi RS4 but we used to have an Octavia :)

  • Author

Yes, no problem.

Thank you, will check with the wife about which one she wants. Might take some time :)

You can tell TimDogg wears the trousers in his family (but only cos the missus let's him!) ;-)

A quick question, how do you get the stick on mount un stuck? I have stuck it to the Fabia windscreen skew iffy all my footage will be 10 degrees on a slope lol

  • Author

The sticky pad is a gel type, so pull the mount at an angle to unstick the edge and peel it off the screen.

Then roll up the gell pad, throw it away and put the spare on.

Hold the mount firmly though, if you hold it by a delicate part it'll snap off.

I will give it a go, thanks Richard

My car is due its first service soon I use my current cam with the 12V socket and leaving it plugged in it runs 24/7 but if you start car with it plugged in its started going nuts and needs reset to start up again. I want to put it into a permanent 12V slot in fuse box for service because I trust no one! I hope we get them in time for that but its not due until mid March.

Tempted to mount it on rear window looking through car and leave the old one on a switched live just to not miss anything :D Last time it was in the camera was noticed and killed lol

I have wired my spare holder and cable into the Fabia today, I used a piggy back fuse, run the wire along the front of the head lining, down the A pillar trim in the rubber and into the fuse box, removed the top right screw for my earth cable and used the piggy back fuse on the bottom right 10 AMP fuse, this is not permanent but doesn't need to be as I don't leave the camera in the car.

I got the holder off Richard, bloody sticky them pads

I would not wire my car like that, I don't like the wrapping of the wire around the fuse blade, looks messy and the item you have just wired in this way is not fused!

Yea was thinking that as its taking its power before ar after the fuse, it in itself is not fused but only the original item. As he is using the original 12V plug I would imagine there is a blade fuse or the like in there. Still not ideal I like the idea of the blade fuse adaptors as if like above I want it on permanently like when it goes in for service I simply have to swap it with a permanent feed. There is nothing more pikey than just loosely wrapping a bare wire around a fuses blade lol.

Richard, does this group buy include extra cables and windscreen mounts? I will be buying three windscreen mounts and three more cables, so if you can wangle a discount on these I would be grateful. If not then don't worry.

That is actually not a bad idea if you just want to 'plug and go' between cars but still want the cable to be 'hard wired' and don't want the added hassle of shifting the w/screen mount

I'll see what I can do.

Didn't get spare power leads last time, but the mounts were £10 each instead of £15 I think.

+1

Also can you confirm these are supplied by a UK stockist ??
