  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

I assume the standard one is like the lower resolution mono screen in the mk2.

When there's things like this, cruise, the black trim and sat nav that most buyers will want I'd have been much happier if it was all standard kit. Yes, it would have pushed the base price up, but it would have helped the resale/GFV unlike options which are just lost money.

My verdict? Not impressive enough for me I think.

How did you get to drive the 208 GTI - just went & asked ?

Did you see the DS4  Picassa its a techies dream toy. :D

This is confusing as the list says CCS - Cruise control system is extra, but at the launch today was told cruise is std, along with the colour Maxidot.

When skoda auto unveiled it on their site I'm sure the spec list incuded cruise control and the colour maxi-dot display, my guess is skoda uk removed these and are charging us extra for them

Well, I have a superb day at Goodwood. Bumped into Collin and had a brief hello whilst sat in the new VRS.

From my point of view I think it is a great car. There isn't much in this price range which has the sporty appeal whilst still being capable of being driven as a mild mannered car. Obviously it will always be horses for courses and yes there is one big disappointment I have with the new VRS and that is no cruise control as standard. But it is still a very good car. The other disappointment on the day was the lack of publicity brochures with detail. A six page pamphlet with no indication of options and thier prices was to say the least I felt poor for the global launch, especially when as we know the German and Italian sites are already carrying more detail.

I do though have to say a big thank you though to James on the Skoda Moving Motorshow stand. He was able to squeeze me a run up the Goodwood hill in a TFSI DSG. It was sensational, I don't know if it was the fact of being able to drive up the hill or the fact that it was the VRS, and whilst it was only a short trip it was really good to have a go, and definitely no restrictions on how fast I could go.

It felt very responsive and handled the hill very well as far as I was concerned as was the DSG. I need a bigger car, I need a diesel, and I am going to replace the Fabia VRS. So this is for me the right car.

Chatting on the stand they did say that the hatch should be available for delivery September/October time.

Peugeot emailed me and offered a choice of the 208 or RCZ, plus free tickets. Couldn't say no, really.

For all their problems, I really like the cars that PSA are making at the mo.

Just got back from spending the day at Goodwood where I managed to get the chance to drive the new Octavia VRS tsi up the hill.

I was really impressed with the brief experience I had of the car, the throttle felt more responsive than my existing car and overall the car felt more planted in the bends. I felt the seats were very comfortable and the build quality seems to be a step up from the mkii.

I'm looking forward to going down to the dealers in the next couple of weeks for a full test drive!

And the wheels as requested

Are these cars lifted for a tyre change?!  :|  It looks like  a ground clearance for a O scout...

Any body have pics of the tsi exhausts?

Saw lots at Goodwood. Wasn't blown away. Bit too bland styling wise. Didn't like the fake honeycomb or the red reflective strip on the back. Easy pass for the money.

Hi badgerman, get your dealer to honour the p[x price you have agreed  and still run your car(that's what i've done) or loan you a motor in the meantime.

These must be the TSI, as you can clearly see the real double exhausts.

Yes, a backbox on either side, as it should be. :)

cheers!

It's the regular Mode button, but with a vRS twist. :)

Had a good look around the vRS today. First time I'd had a close look at a Mk3.

Overall a nice car, although the seat fabric in between the leather bolsters looked decidedly low rent. I'm also not a fan of the honeycomb lower bumper detail, although I noticed on the Audi stand, most of their cars have the exact same honeycomb applied.

Mmm seems not too many impressed by the Vrs :(

ya because we all wanted something more and different on vrs and not that $$$$ saving design such as rear red stripe

Jozef Kaban? were you in haste??? or bored that day when you designed the octavia vrs. :heartbreak:  :(

I think people are maybe expecting too much the octy vRS has always been a bigger car but slightly low rent in areas. It has always been very similar to a standard octy, lets be honest it's a bumper change and spoiler as far as bodywork and all previous ones have been the same. Yes it's more expensive but what car isn't, the golf has become more equipped but although it is a competitor it is much smaller so we need to accept its not a direct cost comparison.
