  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

Hopefully not, given its sporting pretensions. :)

Why is the diesel more expensive, in all the other VAG brands the petrol model is more expensive.

Golf GTi, GTD etc.

Given the diesel vRS makes up 70% of the vRS sales then I imagine its a tidy little profit earner.

In Romania at least the diesel has always been more expensive, GTI-GTD, VRS, FR, you name it...

Here's some more photos of Meteor Grey! Looks good ;)

Not keen on that - looks like shiny primer to me. Maybe it's better in the metal?

Exactly my thought - when I see that I just think of primer! :(

So now we have seen photos are we allowed to say we don't like it lol

It just blends into the background. A very muh colour for me

Its a big thread, sorry if it has been stated already. When are the hatchbacks hitting the UK? I saw estates Aug and hatch Jan somewhere else and it seemed wrong?

I have been told;

Order book opens on the 17th July for both estate and hatchback

First deliveries will be he estate from about September

Hatchback not due until December/January

Only going by what I have been told, so if wrong I apologise.

I spoke with a technical expert from Skoda UK at Goodwood and he said you can order both the estate and hatchback but the hatchback won't come until a couple of months after the estate I.e December as said.

I'm going to get prices tomorrow for a Octavia vRS estate (in my opinion looks better than hatch) tdi with DSG, going for 19inch wheel option, black pack, privacy glass, colour on dash display, electric boot and cruise control

Look at rob pushing the boat out haha. Im very tempted to just go for the tsi hatch when im ready and the bass spec abd price changes like it has in past.

Aside from the wheels that's the exact same spec I've asked for a price for!

A powered boot would be a godsend in my job as I'm always carrying heavy kit to and from the boot

Especially with the 0% finance my figures are working out at just under £200 a month on pcp for 3 years which is £20 more than i pay for my current basic mk2 vrs, its a no brainer for what ill save in fuel, insurance and tax.

I dont need an estate to be honest as dont use my boot on my current hatch just really need to see if i can justify the extra £800 for estate cause does look better. Electric boot is a luxury and is not something I'm definitely going for

I was thinking of going hatch this time (last 4 octys have been estates) but having seen them I much prefer the estate too.

Like those 19" wheels too but with the terrain I cover they might get hammered :(

Ill see what the prices come out at tomorrow going to 3 different dealers to compare them too. Only issue with 19's is 1) £50 extra each for continental tyres and 2) £1000 option which is extremely expensive

So the task for hatchback orders is getting a PX price and getting the dealer to honour it when they start deliveries in December?  I have to be honest, if I can get one delivered in December, 0% PCP and a few more payments on my current PCP and hopefully a reasonable discount on list then it becomes very tempting, mine would be TSI DSG Hatch, the darker 18" alloys not the silver twin spoke ones, cruise control, black pack, heated seats, colour maxi dot, sunset glass, does it come with auto headlights and wipers already?  As for colour would have to be Candy White or Rally Green for a change!

How does the stop/start work with a DSG??

If I could get a good deal on that then I would be VERY tempted!  Also, gives me a few months to justify it to SWMBO!!!!!

I asked about wipers and lights and they said yes.

When the speed sensor gets to 0mph the engine cuts off and when you lift your foot off the break it starts up, its not that bad either miles better than in manual cars

Liked Clarkson's comment last night about electric boot openers.

The white balance on some of those Meteor Grey photos is completely off. It looks nothing like the same color in the car park photos. I think those are a much better representation of the color itself.

What did Clarkson say? I didn't see the episode yet...

Clarkson went on about how slow these electric boots are to open and shut...  in the normal over the top exaggerated Top Gear way.  I don't care for electric closing but electric opening as I approach, with lots in my hands, will be very handy.

Right I see, so regardless of the handbrake being on then?  As I had a Passat for a couple of days last year and that had stop/start and it would only turn off when the handbrake went on, overall, once I got used to it I was actually not bothered at all by the engine going off.
