  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

I heard stand personnel talking about August yesterday with delivery some time later. (see earlier posts).  Good day out, that 4D hillclimb vid was great but the freebies were poor. We were told to return to the stand for refreshments and food at 5pm which we did, and it was coffee and ice cream or smoothy type stuff. Not what we were expecting.  The cars were mainly white, as per the current showroom design/layout with a race blue on a turntable.

The Bentley Continental was stunning and the Jaguar XJ, simply lovely. I'm not sure I'd pay £100k for an S8 either, but it was a nice place to be.

Six and half hours to get back home.  :whew:

340mm it appears (ie the optional Golf GTi Performance pack ones as standard!) and dealers are already receiving them through although most will have them by the end of this month. :)

Guys all vertra1 wants to know is the retail price of the facelift Vrs hatch in manual? Say in 2012 not the blackline or offers etc. we're trying to work out joe much the new Vrs will be here.

Falling on deaf ears I think :(

I asked one of the guys on the stand, and he said all dealers should have a vRS demonstrator by next Wednesday (17th July)

It might even be something as simple as opting for full leather seats that could make the difference (any pictures yet?), plus I know the sunroof can really transform a car.

I agree......full leather would make all the difference.....but at a price I suppose. I still think they could have spend an extra couple of quid on the cloth on the standard seats.

For all Vrs fans in Hampshire, I was in Sparshatts of Botley today and the salesman said they had just had their Vrs demonstrator delivered this morning. Its a race blue estate.

Got my vRS in for servicing at Savilles, Kidderminster and they have a race blue combi TSI vRS in the show room. Looks a bit bland, no black pack, no anthracite coloured wheels and locked doors!

Was going to give my local dealers a ring to try and find a diesel demo VRS. That's one I don't need to call :)

West End in Edinburgh will have their demo on the road in a week to 10 days

The biggest thing with the new one is exterior spec.

I've seen pics of the race blue with 18" darker alloys and the sunroof and it looks good, but others in race blue with the silver alloys and no roof, no active cruise look very plain.

In the Mk2 I would never spec dark alloys on a race blue because the silver looks right with the silver headlights but the MK3 look very plain on silver rims, suppose its because the race blue has a black grill surround and black mirrors/black headlights the silver alloys just look wrong.

The MK2 didn't really have many otions/combinations for exterior looks, the Mk3 will be interesting to find out what wheel/grill colour (some are chrome) and body colour suits the shape the best. The matt grey one they keep showing looks great when specced up but again really poor on the silver wheels.

And I know they are different cars but when this is available:

AUDI A6 SALOON SPECIAL EDITIONS 2.0 TDI Black Edition 4dr Multitronic: £28K

Available in either Ibis White solid, Phantom Black pearlescent (+£530), Ice Silver metallic (+£530) or Daytona Grey pearlescent (+£530) paint with Black Valcona leather upholstery.

Makes you wonder if speccing up a VRS is the right thing to do as the A6 is a very very nice place to be...one of the quietest cars around.

Apparently no one has driven the demo at Savilles yet and judging by the locked door I don't think anyone will. Would be interested to hear who has a diesel demo if you manage to find one.

Just specced up a Golf GTi 5dr DSG with and without performance pack to the levels the same as the Octy I specced up for  price guide.

28.6K with pack and 27.6K without the performance pack.

Including heated leather, winter pack, nav (similar to the Amusden) and panoramic roof.

Now to get the same spec as the Golf you have to spec a few more options like active cruise so the Octavia comes in at 27.2K (TSi DSG) so neck and neck with the same specced Golf.

The biggest issue is some of the features that come as standard on the Golf (all golfs except the very lowest model) are expensive on the Octavia:

Bluetooth: £180! robbing gits

Adaptive Cruise: £750

Colour Maxidot: £80

Crew Protection: £120 (just subsidising the Citigo here)

The Octavia discounts best be good because at the moment I'd rather pay the extra £1400 for the fully specced performance pack Golf Gti.

But saying that has anyone specced up an A3 S3!, you have to pay for everything including standard cruise control!

Just asked my dealer on Twitter when will they get one. No reply yet but I'll let you know. I'm going there for a service in a few weeks so a test drive would be good

Bluetooth: £180! robbing gits

Wait? Blootoof is extra?

Isn't that standard on the S?

Are you sure that's not just for the signal boosting bluetooth upgrade?

I thought Bluetooth was standard and also think it must just be the signal booster option.

What does the signal booster do?

Is it not just the same as RSAP enabled modules on the Mk2?

I've had another look at the options list and with everything I'd want on an estate I'm on £27575, or £1k less for the hatch.

12% discount would bring that down to £24266 which is a price I'd happily pay for the right car, especially with 0% finance as that's equivalent to a couple of thousand saved in interest payments.

Go on Dr, get your order in, you know you want too, and be the first to negotiate 12% discount and 0% PCP!!

The MK3 vRS is evolution rather than revolution; have decided its a nice car and id like one but its not got enough going for it to make me rush out and trade my Blackline, no chance.

I think in time id be interested in a TSi DSG hatch or manual estate (going to spend the 1200 quid or so on one or the other not likely both) with a handful of choice options. Think the car is quite colour sensitive and need the Black pack and dark 18" Geminis to really set it off. Every single race blue one ive seen looks dull as dishwater for some reason, the Pictoris wheels are ghastly and the Xtrems are too elaborate for my tastes.

The green looks good

Also im nor sure im a big fan of all the exhaust fakery, dont like faux exhaust tailpipes at the best of times and why they've not put the same backbox system on both cars or just put normal chromed exhaust exits ala Golf GTD/GTI i dont really understand. Another reason id buy a TSi i think

Oh, my.

Yes.

Green looks good. I just don't think there's enough change over the standard octavia.

There's more change to this than the Golf GTI in my opinion.

Have to say if I was going for another VAG car with this engine/platform it would more likely be the S3 or Leon than the Golf. Not keen on the interior of the Golf either.

Got to agree with you in that one.... Roof box = extra space needed for me so golf looking possible option.

Skoda missing an easy trick by not offering the trick diff :(

Test driving the vrs next week though just to make a judgement.

Going to go down the company car route via vw corporate sales - interested to see what the business deals are on offer... £300 a month 18k miles p/a been floated about

The s3 is very much a different price bracket tho
