JKM Rolling road day 2nd March 2013

Featured Replies

How did people get on then?. I pulled out of this one as some of my friends on my old Vectra site had organised a RR day at Powerstation in Tewkesbury so went to that one instead as I wanted to catch up with them again. On the way up the M5 the bloody car went in to 'limp' mode just as we were near the turning off for Stroud. Wanting a slash anyway I got off the motorway and parked up in a layby, lifted the bonnet, had the old fashion 'wiggle' of a few plugs  ,took my slash in a hedge. Got back in the car fired it up and the flashing glow plug was gone and the car ran a dream the rest of the way, on the rollers and all the way back. Chap there spectating with a Mk5 Golf had a basic code reader and cleared the fault stored. It never came back and the only thing he could find was an EGR fault listed. On the rollers the car made 183bhp @ 4095rpm (118mph, think he tested it in 5th) and 283lb/ft @2005rpm. Not really comparable to you lot as you were on a different set of rollers but I'm happy enough with that as it's standard. Shut a few of the 'skip' callers up too when they saw the torque. :giggle:

  • Was a good day out, although a bit chilly! Only managed to get a few pictures as the camera battery ran out. :(

  • If the Mongrel isnt ready...how about the 106 ..see if it has enough power to turn the rollers

  • That Citroen AX was mad though at almost 300 bhp. That must be fun through the front wheels

Great day out, and not too bad considering they are the heart breaker rollers :)

Good day out, I'm happy with my results.

What did you run Simon? I've always found JKM rollers to be very consistent.

My fabia ran within +/-8bhp across 4 yrs on their rollers

.....Quality pics though. The weather was very overcast.

I always carry a spare battery as backup.

190bhp smack on from memory. It does feel nippy on the road!

Here was mine having a go at Powerstation, operator was laughing as one of the other gits was tapping his key on one of the tool cabinets in the room and he couldn't work out where this tapping was coming from, till he got told.

Good result I thought at 112,000 miles. Said it was running circa 1.5 bar boost, which means sod all to me being new to all this turbo whizz bang stuff.

....Your Fabia's certainly are nippy on the road. Your convoy was making progress well on the home after.

I did wave back but don't know if you guys saw me do so - There was quite a lot of traffic.

As Jason said Barrie, 190bhp 304lbft. That's on a torque limiting map, which was spot on what I asked from Shark. Might take it off now I have a new clutch...

Good numbers. I need 200bhp back in my life LOL

My high mileage Fabia TDI managed 149.8bhp and 250lb/ft

Also going to get Shark to tweek the map to suit the Garrett turbo now fitted to the car :)

I too am high mileage, at 137k, no map, only a mufflerectomy and managed 147.2bhp and 265lb/ft :D Really happy with those figures

Not only is that a great result mate.. your car is in sweet condition for the mileage!

I ran 150.8bhp standard with only PD160 as engine mod.. 82k on the clock :)

Mines on 172k :D

^^^^

Those are quite high mileages on those Fabia's, guys. My Mk5 Golf GTI has only done 105,000. But all our German built cars are pretty sturdy and there's no reason to think that they won't go on if they're well maintained.

Off Topic, but Robin, are there any door seal/ water ingress issues with the MkV's? Missus has one and N/S rear carpet's wet. It's common on the Fabias but wondered if Golfs suffered the sam?

Cheers, Lee. (nice to meet you on sat BTW :) )

....No such issues I'm glad to say.

There have been issues with rusting front wheel arches but VW are aware and will usually repair/replace free of charge. It's due to foam strips originally fitted on diseasal Mk5 Golfs in order to deaden sound and them collecting moisture.

Thanks, Robin. Looks like I'll have to attempt to get the door card off and inspect :( There was even a mushroom growing in the N/S/R passenger footwell :D

My car looks unusually clean! Thanks for the filming

You've found it already! Only just started uploading them all! :D
