Engine Management light and fault code help

Featured Replies

Hello

Please can someone help. I have a Fabia 1.4 mpi 2002. I have just had the clutch replaced and then the next day the engine management light came on. So I took it back to the garage and the guy said that it was nothing they had done. They swapped the 1st Lambda Sensor and the light came back on after 5 mile of driving. Took it back again and they swapped the Coolant Temp Sensor. Again the light is back on. I now have the following codes

16514 O2 Sensor Bank 1 sensor 1 malfunction in circuit P0130

16500 Coolant Temperature sensor-G62 not a plausible Signal P0116

Any ideas what is the problem, or what to try next.

Hope you guys can help.

Remove the temperature sensor and see if the thermostat has broken up, my theory is that implausible signal is caused by the metal part of the thermostat touching the temperature sensor. Part number for the thermostat assembly is 047121111S around £40.

For the probe check the wiring.

Code 16514 probable causes:

  • heating inoperative
  • poor connection
  • O2 sensor

Code 16500 probale causes:

  • coolant thermostat
  • poor connection
  • wiring
  • engine coolant temperature sensor

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info guys.

To update, I borrowed a scan tool. Looking at the readings and reading up online I sense the car is running to rich as all values are negative so the system is trying to enlean the fuel mixture to compensate for a perceived rich condition. The car gets to correct coolent temp and the sensor is seeing this. 185f

My only concern is that the 1st O2 sensor is giving a voltage of around 1.200v. The 2nd looks good at 0.5. Looking online they say the max voltage a sensor can give is 0.9.

Is my car really running rich? Or is it because the sensor is giving a false reading? the sensor has been changed

Thanks

Thanks great info you was 100% correct and really easy to check. Life saver. What a great site

Oops, already sorted.
