I found my Superb: She's called Audrey!

Recommended Posts

Tough decision over the past few months -

Sadly I never got used to Audrey ...

... the diesel / DSG wasnt up there with my old BMW 120d auto (maybe it was just me),

... and the powerful torquey 170 CR was no fun to my previous Subaru Legacy 3L auto!

I was still determined to sell Audrey - though i love the toys,

the comfort,

those gorgeous twin-boot...

She was still not good enough for me.

The prod-screen.

The leaky boot (when opening).

Air con started to pong (after pickup from Skoda body shop).

The constant worry about her being scratch / scraped.

I even kerbed an alloys! :-(

And the nail in the coffin,

With property prices going up again,

I needed a deposit to get back on the property market....

Audrey was a golden goose with £10k+ of equity release - DING!

Weeks of research boiled down to 3 reliable, practical and cheap suitable alternatives...

2010+ Honda Jazz 1.4(those magic seats are amazing!)

2010+ Mazda2 1.3 £7k for 2012 registration!

2010+ Toyota Yaris (value hold like gold dust!)

But as an auto guy, i must buy a manual else a 1.3 engine would just struggle!

My budget ballooned to £11k - eeeek! On this ...

Then it all came together....

I got Audrey back...

New stereo was more touch-screen than prod-screen.

Somehow the drive was more pleasant.

The luxury cruise will be missed if i sell.

I think what i am saying is ...

...its taken me 11months to gotton used to Audrey.

And i think i will try to keep her now :-))))

Its not all over...

Still the BIG question and research about if i can come up with a house deposit without selling Audrey!

Government Help2buy scheme is a available now,

But buyers can only complete on 2nd Jan 2014.

House prices predicted to go up even more then,

So will i be ever trying to save for a bigger deposit?

For now, in the flesh, for the interim (until deposit is clearer)...

...Audrey and Wayne is back! :-)))))

Questions / moans + trivial pursuits (again :-)

God,

Was copying 2gb of mp3 to my HDD (lost everything when stereo was stolen)...

30mins to copy 2gb !!!!! ZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZ

Anyone else same experience?

Thanks to ChrisR - thinking about new steel winter wheels for Audrey.

Thanks in the past for everyone pointing to me to cheaper used Audi Alloys / tyres on ebay.

But i think i will go with ChrisR on these new babies:

Cheapest are ChrisR s recommendations - since cannot stretch to more expensive these:

Hurrah - I've missed the constant update in this thread.

Agreed that you'll miss the luxury going from a Superb to a Jazz!

Welcome Back.

Good luck with the house purchase

A question. Ive seen it on this thread, and on some others.

What is wrong with Toyota?

Admittedly I have no wish to buy one, but just wondered what people didnt like about them.

Oh, and the name Audrey suits the car. Good choice!

Cheers mate!

Nothing wrong with Toyota s!

Not for me anyway.

I like the new Aygo and Yaris (not the ugly Avenis).

Love the old skool Celica s too (Gen 4 and 6s)
