Featured Replies

Just rung Skoda.

In fact they mis-understood and replaced my DUST CAPS ,

as opposed to the centre logo cap!!! Eeek!

Maps updated to version 9.

Does anyone kno the difference btw this version and previous?

The response touch screen seems better (more sensitive/faster) - yay!

  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

Missed the Audi from day 1 :-(

Missed the Audi from day 1 :-(

knew you would - i drove an E Class saloon back in 2008 - had it for 24 hours as a hire car - and LOVED it - It was smooth, spacious, well built, economical etc. - i was driving a Kia Sorento at the time - when i bought the Superb, the E Class Estates (which is what it would have been) were silly monies and i couldn't justify it - but as you know, earlier on this year, i bought my E Class (and as the FaceLift is coming out, the price was right!) - I wasn't ready to let the Superb go, but, A: It's only money, and B: you only live once.

So, go get that Audi!

Wot?!!!

Lol

I cant.

Older petrol audi s (pre-mar 2006) are thirsty.

Post 2006 still hadnt stop/start technology (road tax £400!!!)

Newer Audi (like my courtesy car) cost £20k+ used - i cant afford :-(

Hence after a bit of research, the Octavia diesel ticked all the boxes (except i prefer petrol).

Then i was persuaded the Octavia 1.8T wasnt that expensive.

Thn i was pointed to the Superb class - and never looked back.

Loved Audrey, the immense space, the luxury interior,

the cost effective of buying AND running it...

...but i couldnt get away from the fact i dont like diesels.

I tried to live with it - until i got the courtesy car (Audi).

My brain still hurts with the dilemma of selling up and getting an older petrol car (costly , but put a smile each time i drive it, but not the bills)

Or

Stick with Audrey (a smile everytime i sit and admire it, plus the wallet :-)

defo save the wallet wayne, yes the audi is more of a proper drivers car, but your wallet will be emtpy and lets say it your annual millage ain't that high either, so spending the extra on the audi petrol to get more fun out it will it be worth it? but your since the annual is low is a petrol better since it is cheaper the now compared to heavy oil and the diesels don't like low miles, but audrey has a good spec and a good engine and as long as the DPF light stays off i would keep her

A little update - since no post for a while:

1. STILL waiting for Skoda to come back to me about that bolt screw ...2/3 weeks now eeeek!

2. Spoke to a taxi driver with a Superb.

He says DONT BUY A SUPERB!

INJECTOR problems!

TURBO DIESEL problems! Eeeek!

He also says : u know they have powered boots?

Me: noooooo?

Him: yes!

Me: show me!

Him: oh, i have disabled it in case children get caught out

Me: but there is no mechanism to close?

Him: there is! From the remote too!

I tried mine.

I feel stupid even trying! :-(

So do they?

You're not the stupid one, he is.

By powered boot he probably simply means that if you press and hold the boot button, the boot lid will open. It certainly won't close. Of course, he could be referring to the powered tailgate which is an option on the combi, but I doubt it.

I would also take with a pinch of salt his other comments. Half of Britain's taxi drivers can't be wrong, and they keep coming back!

Optional extra, but not on the twindoor.  As said above.

Cheers Boss!

Though he had a twin-door too!

I meant to say, he said:

"They have powered boots to CLOSE"

The injector problem probably refers to the injector problems with PD diesel engine. VW got forced by VOSA to recall and replace PD injectors that basically had a limp mode that just shut down the whole engine if one of the 4 injectors failed. Very well written about on the ukpassats forum, and I had all 4 replaced on my old B6 Passat, gratis.

Me too, don't think it effected Skoda as iirc they fitted Bosch ones.

Cheers guys!

I remembered when I first searched for my Superb,

I was sure it only affected the PDs and not CR engines.

But the taxi driver has a Superb II 140bhp TDI - which I assume is a CR too?

Early 140 Superb II was a PD, iirc.

Skoda was affected, all VAG PD170 engines were covered under the VOSA recall including the Passat, Leon, and A3 amongst others.

Are you sure? my mates 140 Octavia wasn't covered and the Passat 170's had Bosch ones iirc (I'll need to go for a search)

Nope yer right 170's had Siemmens ones as well, my mates car played up and Skoda refused to replace them saying his wasn't effected 56 plate Sport.

Cheers mate.

Knowing Audi s - I don't expect my A4 to have a sun roof!

Looking good Wayne! It took me 3.5 hrs to do mine this morning, but it had 2,000 miles of French sand and bugs caked all over it. Was too hot to wax, so that can wait for another day. First time I have had to vacuum in the engine bay - some giant moths had splattered their way in.

Also a van hadn't breathed in as much as I had on a narrow road, and knocked my passenger wing mirror. Closing speed was probably about 50mph. My mirror was ok - it just pinged back - I think it's a safety feature. Fortunately it turned out to be a bit of black plastic scratched on the paintwork, rather than a trip to the smart repairs centre - came off with a bit of elbow grease. Unlike the dent on my boot caused by pilot error in a posh multi-storey where the floor, walls, and bits of pipe work (that were pointlessly jutting out of the wall at 1-metre high) were all painted the same colour of black. Grrr...

Cheers Jake!

It usually does take me about 1/2 day to do mine.

But in a rush this time and no clay bar too...

Sorry to hear about your accidents :-(
