Sometimes ever a polish will take the sharp edges out the scrap and make it look less noticeable

So i screw the mats into the hole?

Instead of the passenger side where the screw is in the hole

and then the mat holes click into the screw studs?

For my mat screws (not the passenger beige screw one)...

I need to screw and unscrew to remove the mats to clean?

Will tht mean at one point the screw hole completely worn out and useless...

The mats just pull off the screws once the screws are in place. What I meant by making a cross in the mat holes with a sharp knife is basically to make two single stabs into the carpet of the car using the holes in the mat as a guide. The middle of the cross will then be the point of entry for the screws, and they will be the centre point of the screw once you have screwed them all the way in. This is why I said to put the mats in the car where you want them, and then stab the knife through the holes in the mats.

Once the screws are in, the mats just pop on and off - a bit like a popper fastener does.

Is that any clearer?

Looking at the 1st pic - u can see there is already one beige screw thingy

screwed-in.

Do u mean i have to screw that black screw thingy

into the black plastic screw hole (just like the beige screw)

and thn pop the floor mat hole into it until it clicks (or flush with the top of the carpet)?

The problem i have is the screw thread too big(?) for the plastic hole

tht is protruding from the carpet floor!

Unless i forced it thru with i am worry will split and break the plastic protruding holes! Eeek!

That scratch on the roof is a bummer. I am literally 10 minutes from Blackhorse and would have been happy to get that scratch reduced, if not removed, as I have been detailing professionally for years now.

But back onto Audrey - she looks beautiful in the photos.

As you know, I am after the same sort of car (colour, spec and all) and just wondered whether anyone knows whether you can get Superb creame coloured mats (or do they just do them in black).

As for the car mats other thn black - I have not seen any available officially.

But, I guess someone here will be abled to point to u to some good quality 3rd party ones.

To be honest, the official mats I got now are a bit THIN.

I may have to upgrade sooner or later - and will be getting NON-Skoda ones this time!

Thanks for reminding me! Sad thing is I've had my wheels off so should have known there were 5 per wheel.

As a thought have you asked the Skoda dealer you went to if the scratches will polish out? They've normally got their own detailing crew and are used to getting trade ins ready for the forecourt, so wouldn't be respaying scratches if they can get away

With a polish as it'd eat into their profit when selling the car. One of they might even do it on the side and save u a few quid.

Would be interesting to know abt Skoda detailing.

If i was there for a service - thn deffo i would push my luck and try to

to get thm to do it on the side.

But to just ask for tht specifically now - i think i would be pushing my luck.

I tried to pull the beige one out, but couldnt.

Whats interesting is the:

Beige one just has a solid stud top (to go thru mat holes)

Whereas the screws the came with the mats has a philips slot in the stud top...

Most scratching can be taken out with expertise and equipment,

I have used this bloke and found him to be very good. A bit far for you but you should be able to find someone near you.

I will look into your recommendation!

Tomorrow suppose to be overcast but dry.

So might get a few cleaning jobs done on Audrey.

1. Wash bonnet / boot as sample areas

2. Clay the sample areas

3. AG Paint Renovator (remove any fine scratches)

4. One layer of PINK DoDo Juice (should go well with Rosso Brunello)

5. Wet wipe clean interior

6. Leather clean

7. Glass Cleaner (with vinegar) all windows

8. 2nd layer of sample areas with DoDo Juice

9. Baby wipes on the alloys (possibly add anti-brake dust solution)

And while your at it get those calipers painted i noticed that they wear rusty when you had the wheel off.i had to paint mine

another job to add to the list wayne.

as far as the polishing was concerned I was thinking more about seeing if the cost of having the scratches polished out at the dealer would be the cheapest option-I wasn't thinking about blagging it for free...... you're way ahead of me there!

Bill - Painting the calipers? Tht could be beyond my basic DIY skills!

But could be something i might attempt later in the year...
