Featured Replies

Need to fit a meter to a superb estate with 12/12 reg.

Anyone with knowledge of this , ie, dash/speedo head

access etc.

thanking you all.

hello there yes my superb is a taxi and this is it's 2nd week with me, had the meter, radio, data head fitted by Digitax in clydebank. they have to pull some of the dash off to fit it cause the superb's don't have pulse wires they need to take the binnacle off and use pin no.9 i think on the back of it to get a pulse, would give you nightmares so i didn't watch it getting done but my car came back in tip top condition and everything works and sounds fine , as for the power for the meter etc he used the fuse box so no need to have more wires travailing through the bulkhead to the battery also jonnie5 has a superb estate on as a taxi too so he can give some advice. my superb is a 62 plate s spec 1.6 tdi cr

think you do, but its not a small job to fit the meter in a superb but go to a pro meter fitter and it will come back fine

Very true...but it would be nice to be able to fully understand what you're on about...without having to spend ages reading and re-reading.

I too have a digitax meter fitter to my Superb, but as with Racingboy I had it fitted professionally. If you have had an Octavia II its pretty much the same way it wires into the back if the instrument cluster.

Have to say that Jonnie5's setup looks alot neater and tidier than racing boys.

I think as the wires are hidden away into the dash it looks better. IMO.

Yes but I only have a meter racing boy has a datahead and cb radio too. A lot more complicated.

If it was me personally I would of git some strong double sided sticky Velcro and sat the datahead further back on to of the dash and fitted the meter where mine is. Keeping the vents clear and a little less clutter so to speak.

well i have a datahead and a radio and the wires for the datahead are quite thick so it can't go behind the dash but it looks quite neat to me some of those wires are for my phone and Bluetooth, and those pics were taken after my shift so some wires still had to be neaten up and put away

Even think about putting you meter in a bracket down from the map lights. I've had few vw Caddy's with the meter fitted that way. Wires all hidden behind the rooflining then come dow the front pilers. Would leave more room for your datahead.

Ps I suspect that now your taxi is "live" so to speak. You'll never find time again as it will be out earning money. Lol

yes she is out at 06:45 every morning making money, moving the meter is a no no having to drive all the way over to digitax again pulling the dash off to rearrange wires and i never use the vents anyways just the window blower and the feet heater and jonnie is your superb a 1.6 tdi too?

Ah obviously different setups then, wasn't aware. No offence intended.

how many miles has the superb got on it jonnie? and what are your impressions of the 1.6?

I got mine with 12,000m on the clock.

The 1.6 is a fantastic frugal engine. Usual VAG midrange punch. Never let the engine pull from as low as 1,000rpm (keep it above 1,700rpm) along with being in the right gear. Engine never needs to exceed 3,500rpm, changing up then even when pushing on and keep it in the torque band and its a great engine. Using the engine properly people keep saying to me is this a 2.0ltr and when you tell them its a 1.6 they can't believe it.

When I pick up this next week the meter is going just in front of the lights in the headlining

well done skippy, you will not believe the room in it and the punters will love it, have to tell the guys over at taxi driver too, has your council not got color regs is your octy not black? you told me at taxi driver that you would get a 2.0 diesel but the 1.9 is one of the best vw group engines ever so good choice there the miles on it are good too it has a few dents in the boot don't know what it could be caused by? and believe me jumping from an octy to a superb is unreal you will not regret it
