ARGH! Broke my splitter and lost part of the trim...

Featured Replies

So, this morning on the nursery run of Monte destruction, a cat saw fit to run in front of my car.

At 50mph.

I mean properly, dodged the car on the other side of the road and into the front splitter. No time to brake or anything.

I'm not a cat fan, but I don't want to run the blighters over. I went back and it was proper dead, a following vehicle had stopped and put it on the side of the road, tried the nearest house (no response).

I went out at lunch time to check the car and found that a grille panel on the chin grille has popped out and gone and the front splitter was looking more like something from a F1 car - all swoopy and decidedly not standard, with the bracket showing. I put it back and it has cracked the splitter in several places.

Great.

Anyone know how much a splitter is? I have the grill part on order (I saw that earlier, splitter on 2nd look) for £5, to be fitted at Friday's service.

In all, a rubbish day...

A worse day for the cat

He is certainly not enjoying his day. I had my daughter in the car too - she asked what the thump was and why we were turning around...I had to make something up.

Terrible experience. Only other animal I've hit has been a pheasant - universally renowned for stupidity, I never expected a cat to go all hari kari in busy morning traffic on a 50mph road...

:-(

You bar steward killing a cat ! Where you doing 50 in a 30 ? Or not looking where you where going ! Oh by the way I prefer cats too humans

Fek your splitter

That's a bit harsh on the bloke, Seb. He mentioned it was a 50mph stretch of road, and unfortunately animals do run into the road. Was he supposed to swerve or brake suddenly, thereby increasing the potential for something more serious to happen?

Harsh as it sounds i would rather kill a cat than damage my car and possibly hurt my child and other people involved. 8 lives to go.

Nah only joking really I can't say anything I recently killed a flock of pigeons, no need to swerve or brake ment in jest only, however I do prefer cats too humans ;)

Couple of weeks ago in old car badger run out in front of me in the dark.

Thump

I do not swerve to miss things that shouldn't be where I am.

Sad but it also hurts me when that happens. No damage to car.

Just as well next day collected Monte and old car was p/xd.

So if you have just bought a s/h Yaris with a bit missing it could have been mine...

Seboni, your pic didn't show at work

I've just seen it and had a flash back.

poor little mite is still by the side of the road, but moved away from the drive entrance it was in, so obviously not a friendly community.

Did you not pick it up ? And move it ? I thought you are required to tell the police about accidents? Sorry for the flash back tho ;)

interestingly, you don't even have to report dogs any more (or so I'm told) as theyre not licenced.

The cat was moved off the road into the edge of the driveway. The cat tonight was moved from that point to the edge of the road, so obviously not owned by that house and they presumably don't know the owners, as they would have told them their cat's dead on their drive...

I remember I hit a red setter whilst riding my motorcycle :(
