Hi Everyone,

I humbly ask for all your patience as I am new to forums, and to all car tech stuff etc.

I started my car last night in neutral, no radio connected, no lights at all on.

The car I have is LPG/Petrol, I start in Petrol initially, this as normal, all OK.

On the left of the speedo on the dash are 2 raised buttons.

One is for side lights and one is for normal driving lights.

When both pressed to in to "ON", the car park was dimly lit, so I got out to investigate.

Indeed, very dim looking bulbs, so I went and tried the stick on the sterring wheel column.

When I flick it towards me, the full beams both flash as normal, and when pressed away both reamin "ON".

I tried to change both bulbs for brand new standard ones, not mondern H4 or H7.

When this was done, only the driverside one remained dimly lit. Please note the car is LHD.

However both work as normal when on full beam, and the sidelights front and rear remain on too???

When I saw that this was obvioulsy not the bulbs but a circuit issue, I put the bulbs back that were at

the begining, and noticed that they were both dimly lit again?

On reflection, one night last week. on coming traffic was flashing me, maybe this is whay, as I checked and all light etc were on the dash lit up, but I did notice the normal front headlights flickering

a little bit, with decreased visibility at times.

The following night thought they were fine again, I really am confused by this briskoda?

Can anyone explain to me please where to go on the car and what to look for before I call an elec auto technician.

In think in my 1989 Favourit, that this is placed under the dashboard in the passengers seat.. But I don't have the instructions manual for the car, so i'm not sure which relay(s) fuse(s) I'm supposed to change.

Can anyone help me out with pictures, or alink to or a scanned image of the fuses box with explanations as to what is what etc...?

Or ideally - could anyone post an overview of what the row of fuses are individually for, I would be really be very grateful.. ;o)

Thanks in advance

Dan (Slovakia EU)

sounds like it could be the relay for dip beam, or the fuse box itself as they did suffer problems with connectors burning out.

that is where I would start. all the uk cars had a fuse box recall that changed the fuse box from bullet fuses to blade type

As above, or a burnt dip beam contactor in the dip switch itself. I'd check the other points first though.
