Changing interior light bulb - how?

Featured Replies

Hi - beginner's question here.

I want to change my interior/courtesy light bulb. How do I get into it - there's obvious screw or place to open it?

Do just prise it open with a flatheaded screwdriver?

Matthew

When I opened mine I used a flathead screwdriver in the middle where the rocker hinges.

Thanks, I'll try that. I thought it'd be good to get someone else's experience. I don't want to wreck it!

You may upgrade your old bulb to LEDs in the process.

Thanks for really helpful tips. Anyways, I haven't gotten to the part where I actually unpop the plastic hatch and check what's under; not just yet. My wife thinks that the interior light isn't bright enough. So, would replacing the stock light with LED's make a difference in terms of lux and lumen? Also, what actual bulb socket will fit under there? I have searched the entire Internet but no one seems to mention the actual socket. Is it because it's somewhat out of the ordinary, special stuff? From looking on the photos in this thread, it looks like C5W bulbs. Is it?
