New oil usage figures?

Featured Replies

A Citroen DS3 Sport or a Suzuki Sport or a Mini Cooper or.......Dunno..Not another Fabia though

I'm looking at the Swift Sport too. Brother has the old one and any small faults the old one had the new one has fixed. Sure it's a 3 door, the boot is small and it's less powerful but on a B road blast it's, dare I say more fun that any Skoda I've ever driven. Plus the new one can handle a decent roof rack when the old one couldn't. I'd have the seats folded down permanently as I'd never carry rear passengers. Would also mean that as a family where we all had Skoda's at one point have all switched to Suzuki.

Oh and there are supercharger kits available ;)

  • Seb, I spoke with Mitchells just last week about trade in of our Fabia, even with the oil usage that they dealt with I was offered a respectable 11,250 for a two year old Fabia VRS 2011 with 6,000 mil

  • Just because SKODA/VAG print something deep in a badly translated to English Owners manual does not mean that you have to listen to their cr4p. If they want to make out that their products might cost

  • Ring Skoda Customer Services  Tip: be nice and don't scream and shout it's amazing how helpful they are when treated like human beings

That's what I mean martyn it'll be a worry after the warranty has gone IMO

It is a worry but the reason I might be selling early isn't reliability

But it's at the back of your mind?, what you owners have to realise as well is the low part ex figures that may arise from the issues, regardless if your is totally fine I reckon we may have members complaining about the figures over the next couple of years when these cars are part exed for something else, which is totally wrong vw have been very slow to recognised the problem and really address it, the law suits that are takin place at the moment may help the cause though, its looking like I will be heading for leccy over

The next year or so

I don't think trade in costs will be a problem. All cars lose money and judging but what others are selling for we won't be losing much. Far less than if the car was the full 17k. I'd feel sick if I'd paid that much for one.

True true but I think no one ever paid £17 k for them..? I think in Europe they are a little bit more and sure Australia and places do pay a hell of a lot more

Aye, right.

I'm amazed you've got away with it but fair play to you - the most blatant campaign of trolling I've seen. I certainly won't be renewing my 'Freedom' membership.

As Brian 69 states above, you do seem to appear in all the oil use threads and you don't even own a Skoda, maybe you should divert your well meant sympathetic comments to a different cause. Just a thought.

That's better than I thought it would be. Might just hold off a little longer thenOT but is anyone having trouble posting on Briskoda? The quick reply isn't working at all for me when i hit the Post button

Just adding my stats to the thread.

Coming up on 16500 miles and I've topped up just shy of 8 litres of oil.

Based on the 0.5l per 1000km it sounds like I'm well within their suggested limits.

@Martyn, quick reply worked ok for me.

Its rather worrying this

Imagine how many people's engines have went pop!

I know some people dont check oil between services :o

Im guessing the older twin charged 1.4 doesnt use as much?

My other half's golf gt tsi 170 doesnt use a drop of oil and its now on 62k

Strangely, the Scirocco 160PS twin charge doesn't seem to have any oil-usage issues - it appears it's just some 180PS Fabias, Ibizas and Polos. Not sure about the A1 but someone on an Audi forum was claiming Audi's quality control is better - thought the engines are all produced in the same factory?

I'd actually steered clear of this forum for a few months due to Seb's trolling. Astoundingly, upon my return I find his broken record is still stuck in the same groove. Extremely poor moderation.

Any chance we can get this in English when you have a minute?

Aye, right.

Never trolled in my life! Don't through your toys out of the pram Brian :( why not renew freedom because of my caustic comments I'm only whittle and my intentions are honourable :)

Sorry if my England isn't good enough:( sorry Brian , its not my first or second language I've picked it up here sorry

So in fact there maybe an issue ? In (some) the 180ps drive trains .

James I agree I don't have a skoda (now ) but I'm pretty sure I've had one or two up to last year, lets see now

1 skoda Estelle 120

2 skoda Estelle rapid

3 skoda Estelle

4skoda favorit

5 skoda felicia estate

6 skoda Octavia estate glxi

7 skoda fabia

8 skoda superb 2

9 skoda fabia 1.4 tdi

10 skoda fabia crtdi elegance

So I think I've had one or two, I've nothing whatsoever against skoda per say I truly have not, may not look that way but I don't as I'm in two minds on my next purchase, skoda for me has always stood for quality and a relatively low price, this has now flipped 360 degrees with some models, I agree with Brian I need a good shake sometimes ( and I often do ) and told to do one :) , however my intentions are honourable and not disrespecting anyone ( telling them that their English isn't up to scratch ) or their vehicles, the fabia vrs when behaving as a proper car ( not using vast quantities or the black stuff or requiring new engines) its a bloody fantastic car it really is, however most drivers / owners will have a slight niggle at the rear of their grey matter " was that a strange noise or is this amount of oil usage acceptable" , well for some I'm that niggle and a right pain in the arse " sorry" but

Anyway, obviously time for another Fabia II forum sabbatical.

^^^^ As I said. Seb You are doing it again.

My car used oil, Skoda have fixed it and now it still uses oil but less per 1000 miles, I am happy as long as it fits with the guide lines laid out by Skoda, I will just put oil in it.

I had a Passat, every 7000 miles one litre, no problem, had the car for three years and covered 136,000 miles, so over and above oil at services the car used 19-20 litres of oil.

The Fabia, seems to use a drop of oil on short journeys, however when driven hard it uses NONE, I suspect it is to do with the EGR or the higher pressures in the small space a 1.4 tfsi engine has to produce the 180bhp that it does.

So looking through your list of Skoda cars I suspect you swap your cars before you get to know them.

Has anybody mentioned a Mazda RX8, I believe these run on oil?

.

The problem for me is that I do have that little "niggle" in the back of the mind, so having someone constantly reminding me about is a PITA.

Sorry OZ :( you won't here from me again all the best with your car m8

No problem. All good.

Just dropped my car off at my local dealers after driving the 300 miles for the oil consumption test.

Dipped the oil with one of the technicians, didn't even register on the dipstick, so thats approximately a litre used in 300 miles. His face was a picture!!
