New oil usage figures?

Featured Replies

Hopefully it will all work out in the end with a new engine.

If it never even showed on the stick when the engine was hot, it used much more than 1 litre if it had been filled correctly after they did the consumption test. *Did they not get the same results during the consumption test?*

That is a serious failure someplace.

Please keep us up to date on things and all the best.

?? Have you got a nice courtesy car from them??

  • Seb, I spoke with Mitchells just last week about trade in of our Fabia, even with the oil usage that they dealt with I was offered a respectable 11,250 for a two year old Fabia VRS 2011 with 6,000 mil

  • Just because SKODA/VAG print something deep in a badly translated to English Owners manual does not mean that you have to listen to their cr4p. If they want to make out that their products might cost

  • Ring Skoda Customer Services  Tip: be nice and don't scream and shout it's amazing how helpful they are when treated like human beings

i was told from the top of the dipstick to the bottom was 1.5 ltrs

A quick oil update, I drive mine a mixture of hard and gentle (including start stop traffic) okay... not in a city but currently have done 900 miles and haven't used a drop. The dip stick is still registering the oil as full.

Happy bunny!

(P.s I'm not to worried about it anyways) :)

I'm new to the skoda scene, from what I have read, the newer models are revised in someway that fixes or improves the issue, is this correct? My car is a September 2012 model, would this be one that includes the revisions?

Mines Sept 2012 with the CTHE code and has used 3 litres in 2500 miles so, I'd say no it's not fixed, maybe the majority are now good though as I seem to be the only one here with the new code and oil problems.

MilgeS, what is the latest on your car please, ie, what are SKODA saying ?

Booked in for consumption test next Wednesday (March 6th)

Quick Update:

Just had 'the phone call' from the dealer who states that my car has used 0.97 litres of oil in the 300 miles that I drove it.

They are fitting the oil breather pipe now, but even the technician said,

'I doubt it will do much good'.

So I'm not holding out much hope!

And George, I'm kind of proud to own the vRS that drinks the most oil! Ha.

Cheers, Ben.

Can't believe the tech said " I doubt it will do much good" :o what a thing to say

Guess it's procedure. Has to be done I guess to satisfy Skoda to give a new engine

I had the breather fix and new engine and neither worked but really hope everyone else's does. It beats my litre of oil in 500 miles Ben! I'm handing my car back next week for good :-(

Oh so sorry vicky a very dissatisfied customer I bet you are !

I'm not dissatisfied to be honest. It's a fantastic car and I'll be so sad to part with it but I can't afford the oil or time out to take it to the garage, plus I need to think of the resale value as I planned to keep it for years. Whilst SUK have been awful my local dealer have been nothing less than fantastic and I'd still buy a Skoda again (my last car was the old vrs model). I'm annoyed mine seems to be one of the unlucky ones and jealous of those who have good ones.

Are they looking after you financially?

Ours used 0.9 litres in 107 miles

New engine has used none

My first vrs lasted 8 years and no problems so that's why I got another thinking it would be another great car. I tolerated the problems because I liked the car so much and my garage looked after me but I've got to be sensible. I'm getting a brand new Fabia next week so not all bad.... Just not as quick!

Monte?

New engine. 1000 miles. Oil consumption = nil

Good to know these new engines are OK. Mine I know needs a top-up now so I'll got get another bottle, top it up and I'll know exactly how much I'm using. Been writing down mileage and measurements every time I've checked the last two months si I can show Skoda conclusively

Just got my new vrs last week and have done 1100 miles and have used 250ml oil so quite happy with that as some stories on here are quite scary :-s

Yes Ben, Monte Carlo. Big Sheep - jealous! I take back what I said to you about green cars being unlucky...... well in your case!!!

Day 3 of ownership now and i must say i am loving the car in every way, been out and put a few miles on it so i will check the oil level tomorrow. Just a couple questions:

From the level on the dipstick, how are people determining the amount of oil used? For example is the amount from Max to Min 1 litre?

Also, how do i determine what engine i have? CAVE, or the revised one.

Many thanks.

Have a quick look in your service book, should be in the first few pages, I checked mine the other day so I can confirm it's there :-)
