I was doing 50 odd in D7 yesterday and stuck it in Sport and it shifted to S4. Manually changed it to 7th and it shifted automatically back to S4...

It would do if you were still in S and used the paddles to move into 7th.

below 2400 rpm the car is just calm and economic. Supercharged. Floor the throttle if you want, it will drop 2 gears probably.

2400-3500 and you have Supercharger and Turbo probably, kick down in 'D' if you want.

Watch for Torque Steer or loss of traction, (weather Dependent).

I have to admit it took me a year to discover that kick down needs quite an increase in pedal pressure to operate the switch, then hang on to your hat!!!
