How good is your L&K TV?

Featured Replies

After 3 months of fault finding, several trips back to the dealer, the involvement of SUK and the factory the TV is apparently working in my 2013 L&K Twin Door. I say apparently as frankly it is useless if I am moving. I know the picture goes off for obvious reasons, but the sound cuts in and out all the time as well with the no signal icon showing up.

The main reason I wanted this was to get the extra radio channels you get with Freeview, but with having to be stationary to hear them this is clearly not fit for purpose.

The aerial set up is different between the estate and the twin door, with the estate being better, so I'm looking for other people's experience please with the TV in the Twin Door to see if I'm being fobbed off or if they are all indeed bad.

I love my tv but at first I thought reception was a problem only to find (being in South Wales) that I needed to tune to all the surrounding areas. This though still present a bit of a problem when on the move including DAB (R5L) as the car can only pick up obviously good signals and that I am afraid is the issue. When I am stationery reception is brilliant but on the move even the sound can fade if your line of sight from the transmitter is not direct, hence tuning in to the nearest different transmitter as well.

I am the owner of an l and k twindoor. The reception on the move is not as good as when stationary, but most of the time it does do its job alright. Bear in mind though that here in London coverage is probably vastly better than in South Wales. (not that it's a better place to live...;-)

I would imagine that the radio reception on freeview was easily overlooked as the designers would have put more emphasis on TV viewing which, as you imagine is a bit of a no no when on the move.

The TV should also keep playing it's audio on the move, the same as a DVD does. I use the DVD to play concert DVDs, just have to start them before setting off as you can't see the disc menus when driving either.

My L & K Combi seems OK for radio until I get into the shadow of a hill. As I listen mainly to BBC FM is more than adequate for me.

Hi Huwcymru, is that using the regular radio or the TV to play a radio channel? My radio is fine, it is the TV that has been causing me issues since the car was delivered.

Have you had a TV in a car before?? I ask, as in my opinion they are never that good. Had them in a string of Range Rovers and they have all been useless. Like you with L&K, they came with the car, so frankly wasn't that bothered, but certainly not worth paying extra for.

Cheers

Steve

I like mine and in general the reception is very good. Use it loads when I am writing up reports on sites or when the wife is shopping.

I'll agree with Danny57 on this. My SWMBO doesn't drive and if she wants to go shopping to places like Festival Park in Ebbw Vale or Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil, I sit in the car and watch TV or a DVD whilst she trawls through the rails of T K Maxx or similar. I'll have a quick look in the shops when she goes, but my knees are not as young as they were and I can't stand for a couple of hours without becoming very uncomfortable. She's much happier as well as she doesn't worry that I'm sitting in the car getting bored!

I find the sound and picture quality on the TV is good. OK, the screen is small, but you're sitting very close to it.

Has anyone taken their L&K abroad? We're going in June to Lithuania and I was wondering if you have to reset the TV to receive programmes in the country you're visiting?
