Saw my first mk3 today

Featured Replies

Was silver and wasn't hanging about!

Looked much better than the rapid it was following (1st rapid spot too). Not sure if the lack of bumper reflectors but the rapid just looked bland and odd looking ?

When I saw one last week it was not hanging about either, I think they are attracting ex-Insignia drivers already!!

Saw the rapid and was like "wow my first rapid spot" the the shoots past the mk3.

The back looks nice :D

I still haven't seen either on the road!

I thought I'd seen on on the road in Belgium - turned out it was a Rapid...according to the badge!

Saw a Mk3 Octavia Taxi today in Nottingham on my way to work.

Glad I've ordered mine in a metallic colour - less chance of being stopped and being asked by a complete stranger to take him (or her) somewhere I'd never heard of!

This one was Silver

Used to happen to me at times in my Mk2 Superb, never get that in the Povertyline Furball though :-)

Where I live all the Octavia taxis are non metallics, mainly white and red. But could be an income on the side - just need to find some fares that want to go from Southampton and Portsmouth early in the morning and returning early evening!!!

I saw an Octavia Hire Car last Saturday in Birmingham Int Airport in Topaz Brown, looked alright.

saw my first Mk3 which was privately owned, although it could have been a Rapid as it was driving in the opposite direction.

I saw a rapid in a metallic red colour the other day, looked quite smart. Not seen an Octavia on the road yet, but saw one at Listers in Coventry today and was VERY impressed. Fingers crossed I'll be put onto the company car scheme soon

Saw my first one today parked up in Cardiff so I had a look inside. Looked great, especially the new Columbus.

Saw my first one on the road today .................. in silver! All the ones in the dealer I went to were silver as well.

Waiting to see one in the flesh in a darker colour.

I was at Grimsby at the weekend, taking the wife for a testdrive in a possible new car, we went past the docks and saw several Octy 3s.... All in silver!

My dealer told me that Skoda specify that all cars destined for showrooms must be silver. Find that a bit strange as it denies customers the possibility of seeing cars in different colours as photographs are inherently nee liable in replicating colours.

How come my local dealer has an Octy 3 in race blue sat in his showroom then?

Silver is just the blandest colour IMO for the Octy 3 and you're right, the customer needs to see some variations as it can transform a car dramatically. Silver isn't too well received from what I hear so that won't be helping new sales.

My dealer inexplicably also had a denim blue Rapid in the showroom, but Octavia, Fabia, Yeti and Superb all boring silver. It was like a monochrome Porsche showroom, where the cars are invariably black, grey or silver.

I didn't really like the choice of colours. I like pale metallics that aren't silver, like my Audi below, but there was nothing that really interested me. Denim Blue looked a bit flat and I didn't fancy Cappuccino Beige (quite enough of that word with my leather colour!) so I went for Steel Grey, which is darker than I like. I suppose I won't care from the inside - and yes, I like pale interiors too, though I have gathered that I am in the minority here. If black had been the only interior colour available, I wouldn't have chosen Octy3.

Steel grey was on my short list along with race blue and denim blue. After much thinking and head scratching and two visits to the dealer to look at the colours ( their Octavia 3 demonstrator is steel grey, they had a VRS in race blue and a Rapid in denim, ended up choosing denim blue. I didn't choose race blue as I thought of it as a "wannabe VRS" colour. All three are great colours though.

I look forward to seeing your Denim pics. I have to wait until July...

Saw one on Saturday, private owned, in topaz brown. I have to say, seeing it in the flesh, I wouldn't pick that colour.

I look forward to seeing your Denim pics.

No problem - will post when I eventually get the car, being built "first week of May" so estimate delivery early June.

...should be some pics of a "wannabe vRS" riding on 18s available early June for a comparison too, lol! :giggle:

Actually saw one to look around today. Very nice and makes my mk2 look so dated.
