A thought. Why not try and contact your local Police and Crime Commissioner to voice your concerns about the way the police haven't been of help to you.

Police and Crime Commissioners will be directly elected by the public and will be subject to a duty to consult with victims and the wider community, but will need to maximise their understanding of the needs of local people. The Government has signalled its interest in getting neighbourhoods engaged with their public services (for example through beat meetings) and how victims are treated is essential to maintaining public trust and being able to police effectively. This is why the Act requires Commissioners to consult with victims in setting policing priorities in their local area.

Bloody hell, not sure useless is a strong enough word to sum up the police on this, any idea if the dogs owners own where they live or rent it? if they rent get hold of their landlord or the council and complain.

looks like they just dont want to help at all. Is there anything you can do to reinforce the fence?! Id be keeping something big and sharp next to the door for if they get back into your garden....

I lost a cat to my mum's neighbour's assassin hunting dogs. The cat had just jumped over the fence and was literally torn apart. So I can sympathise with the horror of dealing with it :(

Sent a small amount for what it's worth - sad to learn it's now a fait accompli.

I just hope some result does come eventually from the police, local media or social media. Don't give up and fight for the justice you and Keira deserve!

Just caught up with this thread properly. So sorry to hear of your loss, it isn't just a dog after a while, they become part of the family.

Thoughts and well wishes are with you and your family.

its hard to get over cant belive its been a week nearly since we lost her

Don't put pressure on yourself to get over it in a week or two. You wouldn't do that if you lost a human family member.

I had a dog who died suddenly before he was even three yrs old. I didn't see it coming and it hit me really hard. Took me a couple of years to be able to think about it without feeling quite so awful.

Give yourself time.

Airgun rifle should get rid of them.

Seriously though have you had a word with these so called owners?

Won't bother an enraged dog. It can take the police a couple of shots with proper weapons to stop a powerful dog.

A hammer would probably work better but that's all easier to say than do in the heat of the moment.

I suspect the 'owners' have deliberately made the dog the way it is and don't really care. The attacking dog is a victim as well it's probably had a pretty awful life.

Is the OP going to raise a complaint with the police and local Council?
