Nankang V Vredestein *215 v 225 40 18s Also*

Featured Replies

Looking for some new tyres, and i know what most will say about it. BUT i was just wondering if people have any real world experience with a nankang versus a branded tyre?

Camskill have got the vredesteins at £89 at the mo which i am really tempted by as the online reviews are extremely good.

But nankang sport jobbies can be had fir £52, which is a massive difference!

I don't drive the VRS like i stole it and only every now and then push it to anywhere within its limits, and if it was wet then i wouldn't bother.

Im running weitec coilovers which has transformed the cars handling and my confidence in the car. But in no racer and wondering for my needs if the nankang would be ok?

Please try and be constructive with feedback as i know its a hot topic :)

The Nankang NS2s give surprisingly good grip in the wet and dry for the price of them, they just don't last long.

For that sort of money I hope Vredestein have come a long way. The set I had 9 years ago (on a V40) were bloody awful in just about every way possible. Crap grip, ripped up easily, went out of shape, tramlined, dangerous in the wet, felt like flat tyres...

Personally, i dont drive my Octy like its stolen either, but.... there was 2 Nankangs on the back when i bought the car.

in the dry, they are grand, but in the wet... even damp.... just goin around a roundabout they be iffy at normal speed...

I run Cooper Zeons, and they're great wet and dry on a standard setup .

i get em at good price too, 70euro a pop.

I used to use Nankangs on a pug 205 GTi they had good grip but only lasted 7-9000 miles, they were like a poor mans Yokohama soft compound tyre, good enough for the money IMO.

Check out the online reviews and from people on here aswell, they have come a long way it would seem.

The reviews would suggest the nankang were quite hard wearing but would seem not, if thats the case then it would point me towards the vredesteins!

I used vredestein sportrac2 on my audi 100 and did 32000 miles and they were just legal.

Auto express tyre tests are the best place to get some proper evidence, not pub chat like on here.

Pay your money, take your choice, life is a risk.

Just don't regret buying cheap tyres.......

I also have vredestein sportrac3 on my octavia, they are great too.

I also had snowtrac3 on my audi 80 and they were ace.

I also use vredestein comtrac on my T4 caravelle.

Venture tyres in Bristol is a great supplier and has been my cheapest supplier for years.

Indeed, I would spend more mate.

you can get michelin ps3 for around £75 after cashback on camskill if you fit 225s

cashback on camskill?

Whats that?

Ran Nankangs for a while as they came with the used 18" RS4`s I bought, dry grip just ok, wet/mildy moist grip pants, could`nt wait to get rid. I tried Achilles ATR Sport`s as they were recommended on here, bargain price, good grip when scrubbed in, and seem to be lasting well, seriously impressed. They are also about £20 each cheaper than Kumho/Falken too

Bought mine from here, and so did a mate in work who also has a vrs, no problems:-

Like every other tyre thread, this is well on its way to becoming a hot topic....

had Kumhos for a while on my previous Cordoba cant remember which ones eactly, but they lasted surprisingly well,

and that car got fairly thrashed around on a lot of windy rough back road driving.

Had Michelins before that too, which were great, but frigging pricey...

Got kang as-1s on the altea

They are ok, u can play abit

But they are NOISEY

I have verdistein sportrac3 on my mk4 golf and there ok just. Got them on a set of wheels cheap so thats why there on. Ive always liked kumho and just fitted 2 brand new 1's to the front of my octy vrs. I worked in a tyre place for awhile and always found good reports on the kumho. Ive never liked nankangs.

Nankangs are damn good for the money. I find them grippy all the time. Only thing I have is after about a k they are damn noisy.

Wont get again just for that reason.

Mine are lasting well. Done 7k now and still on 6-7mm

Nankangs have the nickname of ditchfinders. Lol.

Had 2 sets on the front verdistain sporttrc 2 and then Centrino , Both types were fine for the first 12k miles they then go off very fast , but i did get them at good price , now thinking to go the budget route and change more often as with 18k miles a year i would rather have a good tread which lasts, than a name /expense .Trying a set of Avon on the front at the moment and they are a lot quiter than the previous Verdistain , but will wait to see how long the tread lasts .

N.B. Billy does not drive fast .....lol

Youd be surprised when the furbi gets wound up lol.

Just read auto express tyre test to take all of the subjectivity out.

Wear

Grip

Wet

Dry

Price.

None of this "my mate said"......

You think Autoexpress are impartial ?

I have just looked on tyre reviews, depending what you read is how good they are, looking at the chart for each tyre Nankang has better dry grip but reading the reviews I would think again, maybe look to a wider selection of manufacturers.

Then you have the final use, fast road or track get good tyres, for everyday poodling about, they would both probably suffice.

Falken ZE914.... Brilliant tyres, best I've ever bought for less than £100 a corner.

You think we've tried 'em all? ;)
