  • I think it would be important to have a ribbed end on the metal pipe to prevent the silicone slipping off. failing this use a glue or sealant?

  • Yes thats exactly it as I have an egr delete so didn't need the type 'b' coupler, think the 90º bend was 51-57mm? Will have to double check.

Just a thought Guys but have any of you considered retaining the original pipework and simply sleeving the joints with over sized Silicone sleeves and clamps?  Wouldn't this be a neat, cheap and effective way of dealing with poor fitting originals without creating extra issues?

When I still had the standard side mount intercooler I had the 57mm Allard top boost pipe but it's expensive.

I now have a Forge fmic which uses 51mm pipework, I bought a new set of SFS hoses and an ASH 45 degree top pipe and 57-51mm EGR delete hose.

So the top boost pipe stainless bend is it a 45 degree or 70?

Does anyone know if you need high temp silicone hose that goes to the turbo. I was looking at ash hose that is ratted at max 180 degrees

In theory yes. Forge sell a specific replacement inlcuding the connectors.

I do have the original from this thread (I own the car now)

I've replaced it now as part of the project and changing to a fmic.

hi, not had my vrs for long, noticed  the top pipe by the altenator keeps coming loose as one of the lugs is worn, oil coating everything which can't be normal can it?

anyway had some bits and bobs in the shed from an induction setup and used some of the over size silicon pipe to join the original pipes together. (removed the clips off the pipe).

all done up nice and tight, will see how this goes, while i was doing up the clamps noticed the other joins are quite loose? is this normal? don't seem right to me, boost leaking maybe?

anyway saw this thread and looks like i'll be going down the same road as some of you chaps!!

The two lugs on the boost hose ends wear against the connection clips due to on/off boost eventually blowing off. The oil comes from the crankcase ventilation system.

hi sorry to drag this on but can some one confirm once and for all whats the best alloy pipe to use some are saying 75 degree 51mm 500mm in length and other people have used 45 degree and 70 degree im geussing they all fit with a bit of work also a few have said they used the ash alloy pipe not the one in the link where the ash pipes are only 300mm not 500 as stated above do theses still work been 300mm thanks

About 75° is best.

Sound does the length really matter aswell because people are saying they've had to cut the hoses down surely with a 300mm and not a 500 there would be less cutting and more fitting

The hoses at 90° and 45° come in set sizes (the legs) They slide over the metal pipe with ease if your buying from eBay etc and not beading the ends correctly.

Trimming will be needed for couplings when fitting the egr valve as the silicone bend will be to long.

That's a 45deg pipe 150mm length legs. But both fit fine.

What degree bend do I need mate?

45degree bend 51mm external diameter and 150mm long legs.

The metal pipe works and looks better with 70° bend.

Just to let everybody know, I bought these parts. I had to cut the 70° metal elbow down in length slightly, and my mechanic modified the ends of the elbow so the silicone hoses don't fly off. All fitted perfectly though :)
