I don't mind, it's taking my mind off the turbo failures To carry on the theme of buying inappropriate cars I'm going to look at a Superb this weekend. A car to be used by me which 99% of the time c

No, its the estates ugly sister, the twindoor I'd prefer the estate but the choice is much more limited and prices are quite a bit higher. I thought the Octavia's boot was generous but the Superb t

cee'd estate mate.

Ive been car obsessed all my life and something ive always found difficult to accept were Korean cars.

My great aunt had a Hyundai Lantra 1.6 GSi back in the early/mid 90's......oh my god what a sack of poo that thing was...to add insult to injury it was metallic purple too and an auto.....having had to be driven around in that car having grown up with Alfa Romeo after Alfa Romeo (a Dad who is also v passionate about cars but gave up on the italians in the end and now only buys german) cars with their own problems but were pretty cool; that Hyundai scarred me for life.

Very recently ended up with a Kia Ceed eco dynamics as a hire car whilst abroad and I honestly have very little bad to say about it; it was half decent looking, wasnt slow, wasnt noisy, handled Ok, was v well equipped.....it was damn plasticy and still felt a bit tinny but I didnt feel embarrassed by it at all.

......problem is it just had no soul at all and still felt like the sort of car thats bought by someone who buys a car for its primary purpose....to get around....not because they love motoring or are remotely passionate about cars or what they drive....is purely a means to an end (and I have to say a very good one).

As much as I now accept Hyundais and Kias as being half reasonable cars not in a million years would I part my own cash on one because I feel it would diminish my passion for cars...gradually my skin tone would turn grey and id eventually just get in the thing for the sake of having to go somewhere and nothing more; my car loving soul eventually sucked dry by a good korean vehicle.

i understand someone buying one as it represents alot of car for the cash and has a fabulous warranty but whilst they make dream TV's and mobile phones....do they make dream cars....no I dont think they do right now.

Same could be same about Skoda though early Skoda's before vw take over were terrible, they have got a little better but i wouldnt say they are anything to shout about, handle is poor the steering is numb, Personally (this is not solely aimed at you) i dont really care what people think about what i buy and drive, i know its cheap to run, has 7 yrs warranty and most importantly has a low lip for the boot for the dog to get in her arthiritis has gotten worse so thats my main priority.

Oh no he didn't buy a Kia

"Oh no you still drive a Skoda!!" :p

I'm a vehicle tester and we see 2009 kia,s with so much wear in parts. Some of them have only 40k and u would think there's 140k on them.

Yada yada, same can be said about any brand, just leave it at that fella.

Sorry for the hijack Silver.

Silver do u think all ur problems are due to the injector change?

I'm not a mechanic but if I was a betting man I'd be prepared to have a wager on 'yes' since all the faults reared their ugly heads within weeks of the injector change.

The issues I've had with my vRS are not the fault of the car. I've suffered at the hands of an incompetent dealer.

Sorry for the hijack Silver.

No need to apologise, it's all good banter.

Deposit went down on the Superb this afternoon.

If we all liked the same cars and were driven by the same purchase decisions the world would be a boring place!

Agreed, the rear profile of the Superb Twindoor isn't going to please many people but at least from where I'm sat I won't have to look at it too often :giggle:

Nice that mate. Like the colour - silvery metallic grey - very nice

Very nice. Is that someone's private numberplate or did the car originate from Northern Ireland?

Nice, neighbour has just got a Superb estate in that colour, elegance 62 plate ,much nicer rear, he had a black saloon before same spec

I'd love one of those. Very nice.

I did have some concerns on the strange number plate but I was put as ease by all the helpful comments here...

Turns out the previous owner was a funeral director over in Ireland and he buys all his cars from this dealer in Coventry and takes them straight home with him.

He chopped this car in for a brand new Superb L&K estate.

Thanks for all the nice comments chaps.

Was a little disapointed when I got there as the mileage was higher than advertised. It was showing 14,155 compared with 12,700 on the advert. I should have spotted this as you can just see the odometer on the pictures!

Anyway they threw in a set of carpet mats, rubber boot liner and half a tank of diesel, gave me a keen price for my part-ex and promised to clean up a few little scratches and scuffs so was happy in the end.

Push for the full tank mate.

Good result - enjoy the Superb.
