  • The morale of that is then as you've said, wait for all the "nice" stuff to come along on after launch!!

Oh dear. Does that mean you will have to pay for a black optic package like with Audi? The version I want isn't out yet, but it will lose its appeal to me at least if chrome is the default. Black l

  • Great news for you!!Mine has been cleared by the port, not entirely sure what this means!! Think it means it can now be shipped, dealer said it shouldn't be too long!! No idea where it is to be honest

Chrome trim wasn't available initially, then they appeared for a couple of months and now you say they are disappearing - strange!

Maybe it becomes standard with the 2014 MY ?

Hopefully mine has it, added after initial order for £132

Yes i have to agree, with you there. it was my first thought. :wonder:

Iirc this happened with the Superb mk2 when it first came out. The lower trim levels had to have it specified as an option and then a few months in, they got the chrome as standard factory fitment!

So I wonder, is that going to mean an overall small list price increase soon?

It didn't on the Superb. I'd guess that it would be a freebie on the Octavia as it maybe Skoda UK believe it enhances the appeal of the car. That is of course, IF its becoming a standard item of equipment. :)

I was going to add it onto my order tomorrow which is for an SE estate. It's via a broker so I may not know the answer straight away but I'll see what they say. Does seem a bit odd though.

As with the Rapid

Got a call from my dealer today that the chrome pack is not available in Ireland either - Said it looks like it will be a unavailable part until 2014. Not to bothered as the car is candy white.

Its probably cheaper overall for Skoda to just stock the one part; be suprised if it doesnt come with chrome as standard now.

If they include it as standard, then they have ripped me off of £150 including vat!!

My thought exactly - if yours is still not built, ask them to give you another £150 option instead - like LED tail lights, or sports suspension??

Built & cleared for transport by Emden Germany, is the latest news!!

I've chased this up. Good news and bad for me;

Good: My estate is being buit week 23. From week 23 chrome is standard. So I get it for free.

Bad: I've decided to shell out for silver roof rails, as I don't think the mix of black and silver will look right.

I also added this retrospectively to my order but got my 12% discount applied so only paid £132. I'm still happy even if it becomes standard spec as otherwise mine would not have the chrome as already landed at Grimsby last Thurs

And this is exactly the reasons Im holding out to order.... Skoda following their usual form - exactly as they did with the Superb just after launch. I'll await the options to be made standard, new options to be made available and a rejig of standard spec to include a few free extras a few months down the line. Then I'll make a decision from each and every one of the available trim/drivetrain/engine/gearbox combinations launched. :)

What's interesting about the new configurator on Skoda Ireland is that you can spec Adaptive Cruise Control or Emergency Stop Assist without ACC - not both. Surprised with that as I thought they both used the same radar like system.

I'm like you Yeti man. I ordered an Octy but cancelled it when I realised there were more options and discounts to be had in mid year realignment. Wonder what else will become standard spec in the not too distant future?

Same situation here in Spain, there seems to be a problem with the supplier, but who knows. I've been lucky, my car has been built this week and my dealer has confirmed me that it will come with the chrome. Ordered April 5th.

Its not unavailable... its STANDARD from cars built week 23 onwards, that's why the option has gone.

My dealer told me this:

"This is from Skoda's latest update on the Octavia regarding the chrome window trim:

'This can be included on cars built before week 23. It will not be included on cars built from week 23. Please notify any customers whose orders are affected

This option will be removed in the next printed brochure and removed from the ordering systems immediately' "
