Not fitted mine yet' date=' but it looks like it's in a good shape, and it was well-packaged :)

I am hoping to get a call from the insrance soonish, then get into the fitting bit :)[/quote']

Hi am I reading this correctly ......... do you need to inform the insurance

company ......... just to replace the sump protector from plastic to alloy ??????

I know superted is after one so thats at least two of you.

Depending on total cost and available funds of course :)

Steve

@Pete - nah the sump protector plastic -> alloy switch shouldnt cause any problems with the insurance, although theoretically as it's a non-standard part it doesnt hurt getting it added to the list - they shouldnt charge for it as it is an improved part, which will last longer, looks better and will protect the car MUCH better. As it doesnt alter bhp or anything like that it should be cool :)

FMIC on the other hand you'd need to declare as it is an engine modification. It does not alter bhp in itself - but with a remap it could/would.

I've got to declare a whole bunch of stuff (as per sig), and I will not be able to fit it until I've got approval from my insurance company (via broker) as otherwise I could be uninsured. Generally speaking insurance companies should be considered as people who will try to get one over on you if they have to pay out. If all your paperwork matches up with your car, they won't be able to do this (as easily) and things should go fairly smoothly if your car is involved in an accident. If they find a mod you haven't declared, they can and have refused pay out.

@black magic - I noticed you were going to take some snaps of how to move the (Forge) FMIC up a little to be able to fit the sump protector.

Would you be able to post them up in this thread rather than emailing them, or alternatively, can you PM me so I can host them with your permission? There seem to be a fair few people that have both FMIC & Sump Protector which will run into this problem :) Thanks :D

The FMIC is now as far up as bracket slots allow.

The sump guard bracket has been modified again by cutting a slot out where it was touching Fmic pipework a lot better now as I had noticed a boost leak on the original pipework. Pictures will be posted once I follow the tutorial.

The sump guard has deformed from within where it meets the OS wishbone mounting and pulled 2 insert clips out of the rear part of the subframe.

I did a trackday yesterday and hit a few kerbs hard, check your sumpguard just in case it's deformed in the same place. I'm goung to put a small fold in it to avoid further contact and also upgrade the rear inserts for a stronger fit.

Thanks black magic :)

Pictures in Forge FMIC section.

I know superted is after one so thats at least two of you.

Just giving this old thread a bump - anyone know if you can still get these and is anyone else interested?

If we can get either 5 or 10 people (price dependent on numbers you see) who want one of these, then I'll do another GB.

They're about £220 including postage and sound deadening.

OK, let's give it a bump and see if anyone else is up for it.

Any chance of getting the driver-side bracket modified to fit past the Forge FMIC - based on the available room I'm thinking if it fits with the Forge FMIC it will also fit the standard SMIC setup without a problem, and it may be worth making that change?

I'd need someone to be able to leave thier FMIC equipped car in Cambridge for a couple of days.

Posted in the other thread about this - I reckon 1 day should suffice ;)

Doesn't look like there's any interest and I've just bought Shifty's old one, so now I'm out of the running too.

Well in that case i'll start the list from scratch.

Go on then...

I can leave my car in Cambridge, only 30mins away, but I have no FMIC... anyone want to donate me one?

Can i just check the price of this Group buy??

Ive seen the price of 150 plus postage and vat then on another post with sound deading which works so the total price is what??

Also do i really need one as iam only ever going to keep my car lowered on the 25mm dampers and springs.

Depending on the answers i get back i shall have a think.

Cheers

Steve

They are well worth it if you live in an area with either rubbish roads, or in an area that's prone to debris in the road.

They are especially useful if you lower your car a lot.

Ok i think i should go for one but depends on price now. I know money should be no object to protect my pride and joy. But what is the PRICE??

Got my bracket modified so it fits around the FMIC pipework

Saved my bacon yesterday I can assure you. Went down a gravel road and it didn't look that bad but I was on the sump guard in no time at all.

Josh - will this have modified brackets to accomodate FMIC pipework?

No, not unless someone with a FMIC leaves their car with the company for a few days...
