Any news Josh?

Bloody hell!

I'm glad I looked in here! Seems like there was about to be a mutiny!! lol

I placed the order last Friday. I called yesterday to check on progress and I was told that the lady I emailed the order to has been off sick since Friday, so I've resent the order to their generic sales email addrress tonight. I will check with them in the morning that they have received the order!

I'm sure I saw Josh queuing for a flight to South America the other day with a large suitcase.

Will these sump guards be available from this company to all after this or was this a one off thing. I'd like to see what people think when they have had them fitted. :)

Can you share the company name Josh??

As I missed out on this one I may need them soon.

I've spoken to the MD of the company today to ensure that the order has been processed... He said it has been!

He advised that everyone should receive their Sump Guards by Friday 16th September at the latest (3 weeks time). This was the lead time I was given when I first got into this.

Regarding the company name, it's KLM. AFAIK, they don't deal direct with the public, so I have arranged for all orders of these Sump Guards to come via myself in the future (as I am now a customer of theirs). Don't worry, I'm not going to fleace anyone... Infact I'll probably set up another GB for these in the future. I just want to ensure that no one makes a profit from the efforts I've put in.

Ones and Twos will probably cost a little more than the £150 plus carriage plus VAT that these have cost, due to the short run, but they WILL be available. Just let me know if you want one and I'll find out the 1 off price. I'm sure it won't be much more to be honest, as they are a very fair company.

Please bear in mind that I've made absolutely nothing from this Group Buy (even the expenses for my trip down to their factory to have the prototype designed have come out of my pocket, and I have paid full price for my Sump Guard, including the Carriage) so please cut me a little bit of slack on this first GB... I really am trying my hardest to make this go as smoothly as possible! To be fair, I think it's gone as well as it could do, so far.

Anyway, let us know when you receive your guards!

For the people who want to collect from the factory, I'll let you know as soon as I get a date from them when your guards will be ready for collection. You can then tell me when you want to collect, and I'll inform the company.

Is this them - http://www.klmeng.co.uk/

I would have though that any future ones would be the same or cheaper now the design work is done.

I am interested as I told you - probably sooner rather than later. Keep us informed mate.

That's them!

Yes, the design work costs were absorbed by the group buy, but like everything, if you buy one from a manufacturer, it's going to cost more than if you buy many!

I will find out a 1 off price for you tomorrow Stu. Like I said, I'm sure it won't be much different to the GB price.

Thanks for the heads-up  - at least I won't have to worry about being away from the office

Good work and thanks for taking the time and effort. Now I can drop the car that last 40mm, already down 40 so 80 should do the trick.

Sounds like you've done a cracking job Josh - well done

Would possibly interested in a second GB in the future, so will keep my eye on the Group Buys section :)

Hmmm. Now if you could only do an Octy one ....

If you were of a mind to I would guess that you could start a nice little resale business considering those kinda prices appear cheaper than the OEM plastic bit.

We had Josh`s car in for a service on saturday and could not wait to see this in the flesh.

It is a good finnish looks very smart and well fitted.

It had a few marks on it already due to the lowering that Josh has done to it.

Whoever is in on the GB have got themselves a tidy little mod.

SKoda do a Octy one... iirc works out slightly less than the furby one..

theres a thread with part numbers around somewhere.

EDIT - OCTY PART NUMBERS HERE

Looking forward to it already. Not sure how long I can go without a sump guard of any sort whatsoever though!? Might raise the fronts up back to OEM to be sure. :o

Sounds like a job weel done then Josh!!!

I should have some cash floating about soon, so this will be on my shopping list too!

[dream mode] Should complement the coilovers and 18's perfectly! [/dream mode]

Hehe

I'll try to get the one-off price tomorrow... I've not been able to call them over the last few days.

  • 2 weeks later...

Josh do you know if the 16th is still the target date.

Thanks

Craig

I'll call them tomorrow to find out for you.

Thanks Josh, could have done it myself but didn't know if they wanted a single point of contact.

Thanks

OK, I managed to get a call back from someone at KLM this afternoon.

The actual skid plates are now built, however, because the bracket was hand made while I was down there, they have had to put all the dimensions of it into their cad-cam thingy to have it machine built, so they are sending me the first of their machine-built brackets tomorrow (to arrive on Friday) so that I can try it to ensure that it fits 100%. Once I have given them the all clear, they will make the brackets asap and shipping will begin.

So, in short, you won't be getting the guards on Friday. :(

On the plus side, at least they're making sure they're spot on before sending them out... I suppose every cloud has a silver lining? (ish).

Really sorry for the delay... I'm sure it will only be a matter of days next week before they will start shipping.

Thanks for your patience!!! :)

I'll keep you bang up to date on what's happening.

Sounds to me like you have put a lot of effort into it mate, so I'm sure its all appreciated!!!

Will this be available after this group buy?

:)
