Might get time at the weekend. I refuse to take the beam off so it'll be out one way or another :)

On a plus note, steering boss is sorted & some longer stub axle bolts to accommodate the adj camber shims are on route.

Oh K, Using propper shims? some ppl just use washers :drunk:

Dropping the beam could be a good excuse for new bushes??

Beams all powerflex poly bushes already ;)

There adj camber shims that were designed by the guy I got the milltek off, bit of a CAD design wizard he is. He has them on his vento as the normal shims don't give accurate enough settings :)

Yeah those are the plastic ones you snap the bits off. The ones I'm having done are alloy with better adjustability ;)

would like to see these :)

I'll get a pic up once there done ;)

Also done his own adapters and solid top mounts :)

The joys of older motors I suppose.

So this is how I left it tonight!!

Fingers crossed I can remember where it all goes ;)

It wouldn't be a MK iii if it didn't have tin worms!  one or two places on the floor and the sills are usually suspect too as are the top of the front struts, all worth a look and good dollop of wax oil or similar to protect them.

A few plates and you will be ok.   :whew:

Drivers side's already been done by the looks if it, sills are a bit mashed from stupid sized speed humps so I'll look at those when its mobile again lol

You want to get taking the plastic trims and the side skirts off and check behind there too, the Mk3 I had was starting to go under there just before I got rid of it. :)

There on the replace list anyway dude, just for peace of mind more than anything. They are a bit mashed with it being low :)

You have no idea how much this thread is saying to me - buy a MK3 Golf VR6, do it. Go on. Why not? It'll be fun.... And so on!

DO IT :)

DO IT :)

Seeing as the other half won't let me buy Black.. VRS.. 1.8T's S3 leather recaro's because she doesn't believe me that my quality of life will be improved by these - I don't think another car is on the cards :(

But we all have to make sacrifices right?  :'(

Buy a MK 3 there are lots for sale on the VR6OC forum but for me with my limited skills in bodywork and welding the MK 4 made more sense as they are less prone to the infectious tin worm (rust)

So true ;)

There's some decent ones floating about for sale now aswell.

As James said vr6oc and ed38 have some good examples on.

The noise they makes it all worthwhile :)

Whilst slightly off topic. Good news is, the other half has finally been broken down on the proviso that no car work takes place on a Saturday when I am not going to football as this is apparently "our quality time" (anyone else heard of this before...). Haven't managed to convince her about the leather recaro's yet, but that's a work in progress.

So I am now on the look out ;)

I work away all week so Sundays "family time" lol.

Good news, get one brought ;)

Gutted, My missus is fine with me, I have spent the past couple of weekends working on the cars :)

I just do things like,

I think: 'The car needs a test run'.

I say: Hun - Fancy popping to the outlet for a bit of shopping??

This works well Becuase:

 - we get to spend time together

 - I get to give the car a test run to make sure its fixed

Gutted with the tin worm mate, Looks like you are making a good start with the repair though, Get a good couple of plated on here as this is a post lifting point, needs to be nice and strong, I would plate top and bottom with a good load of sealer/Anti Rust stuff inside, should hold it at bay for a good while.

Im a total VR convert now, but Mk2 Vr6, The less weight in the Chassis makes all the difference :)
