What's Retrofittable? Octavia Options List

Featured Replies

With almost £5,000 of options to pick from for a potential new Octavia vRS, I've split them in to those that could be an easy retrofit later on, and others that'd be too much hassle or cost-prohibitive to fit later.and

I'm doubting the new toys will be easy to retrofit (e.g. Adaptive Cruise or Front Assist), or has it already been done elsewhere?

Possibly, if other combinations use the same hardware, then it might be possible to enable through VCDS coding (e.g. Lane Assist and Intelligent Light Assistant?

Interesting to know other folks' thoughts on the lists below.  While potentially, most things could be retrofitted, I've only included items on the YES list that wouldn't be much hassle or prohibitively expensive...

YES:

Boot net  -  ordered through dealer as accessory?

Double sided boot floor covering  -  ordered through dealers?

Smoking package, ashtray front  -  nicorette patches

18" Pictoris alloy wheels (225/40 R18 92Y)  -  or any other oem / aftermarket wheel

Sunset Glass from B-pillar back  -  any good quality window tinting supplier

Tow bar preparation  -  aftermarket tow bars will be available

Amundsen sat nav with SD card containing European maps  -  Aundsen+ on eBay, approx £400

Cruise control system (CCS) electronic  -  could probably be retrofitted, but only £180 from factory

'Mitsumi' Apple device connection  -  a good aftermarket stereo specialist could supply this

Simply Clever (double sided boot floor, media holder, waste bin)  -  Could be ordered from dealer as accessories?

Simply Clever for Bluetooth (media holder, waste bin and double sided floor boot floor covering)  -  as above

Temporary space saver spare wheel  -  Aftermarket steel wheels available

NO:  (...or not feasible to retrofit)

Heated front seats  -  A lot of parts, cost and work to retrofit.

vRS leather (contains some artificial leather)  -  Re-upholstering is a big / expensive job

Electric sunroof  -  Wouldn't want an aftermarket hole made in my roof.

Heated washer nozzles, front  -  For £30 from factory, not worth retrofitting

Heated windscreen  -  Probably prohibitive cost to source window and wire it in.

Adaptive Cruise Control  -  Apart from front RADAR, probably needs other expensive parts, calibration and coding

Bluetooth (phonebox with signal boost through aerial)  -  Sounds like wiring to the roof needed for this

Canton sound system (10 speakers, digital equaliser, subwoofer)  -  A lot more expensive to replace oem kit with similar aftermarket.

Colour Maxi DOT computer  -  Folk have been retrofitting these, but for £80, seems a sensible factory option.

Columbus sat nav & colour Maxi DOT computer  -  Not available aftermarket yet, may need some VCDS coding?

Crew Protection Assistant  -  Not sure what hardware required, may be possible through VCDS coding???

Front Assistant  -  Apart from RADAR & Camera, probably needs other expensive parts, calibration and coding.

Intelligent light assistant with high beam control  -  Uses a front camera and some coding, possibly a controller, unknown hassle?

Intelligent parking assistant  -  If hardware present, surely more than just a VCDS coding?

KESSY - Keyless entry and start system  -  Looks expensive and tricky to retrofit, probably not worthwhile.

Rear side airbags  -  Wouldn't consider retrofitting airbags.

I don't think that the navigation gear is at all the same as the ones in the previous models even though they both share the same names.

You cant change the radio in Octavia 3. so forget that.

My dealer said something about you can only install the sat nav system if you have had a factory installed Bolero radio, as the normal radio does not come with an extra antenna plug (or somethign like that). He said Skoda was able to retro fit the sat nav if the hardware was there

All UK Octavias have Bolero fitted as standard except the Elegance which comes with the Amundsen.

Nice, then it's just a heads up for the rest

Thanks for taking the time to start the thread, I think this will become a useful resource over time as more data is added.

I doubt it - You need the side sensors, as standard you only get front and rear parking sensors.

Can you only have heated nozzles?  Thought it was now 'Winter Pack' consisting of nozzles, screen and seats (£430)

For an Audi A4 this was £30 from ebay (for the genuine Audi stalk) then an ECU reprogram so 99.9% sure Octy would be same - thought it was standard?

Don't think so, you only get rear parking sensors as standard, front and side only come with the park assistant.

I have just ordered heated window jets for my 2.0 DSG, £30 so you can order then on their own. I travelled back from Northumberland in snow with frozen jets last year, I even had ready mix screen wash, absolute nightmare, for £30 it's a no brainier especially with the winters we are getting these days

The radios are completely different from current radios. New ones are just a screen with the cd mounted in the glovebox doubt it will be retro fittable

So, anyone tried to retrofit Kessy?

Any info on the variable boot floor for the estate?

Unless you enjoy doing the work yourself I can't the benefit fiscal or otherwise, I actually get more fun from beating the Salesperson about till we get to the price I'm willing to pay for everything I want and its then warranty if it all goes Pete Tong.

Mitsumi is a factory only option. Needs a loom and connector that are not available to order via parts counter or TPS.

If using apple products a no brainer at £80, unless new connectivity options can be retrofitted.

What about rear seat entertainment on MIB1 Columbus?
