Remote operation of windows.

Featured Replies

I feel so stupid.

After five months of owning the Superb. A guy I know pointed out to a friend that if you press and hold the unlock button it opens the windows and holding the lock button closes the windows. I said I know of a friends Octavia mk2 that did that. He asked to see my keyfob and showed me how to do it on mine. I felt so stupid but then again so did my other friend that owns a Vauxhall Insignia who didn't know her's did it either.

Live and learn.

New fangled things eh :giggle::happy:

It took me a week to realise how to work the lights at the sun visors,

Using this feature a fair bit in the UK at the moment. Useful when it's hot, to have the windows open before you get in, just takes the edge off the temperature.

Brilliant, thanks for the info. New fangled stuff indeed!!

I've had my Superb two years and only just found this out a month ago

Every time I locked the car and realised a window was open, I opened the door, put the key in the ignition, put the window up, removed the key, shut the door, and locked the car again…

… now I just push and go

Better still (if you have rain sensing wipers) if you leave the windows down and get a sudden downpour of rain the car automatically puts the windows up and closes the sunroof!

Do you have proof of that? Mine didn't. Maybe you have to have everything switch in a weird combination to get it to do that! ;) ;)

You need to switch on rain closing in the comfort (convenience?) menu.

You need to do this EACH TIME you quit the vehicle if you expect it to work - it's not a "once on" option. NALOPKT!  :)

`NALOPKT`?

`NALOPKT`?

Think Michael Caine.

Well, you've surprised me there. The manual says you can, in the Comfort menu,

Switch on/off the function for automatically closing the

window and panoramic tilt/slide sunroof in a locked [car]

when it starts raining. If the function is set and it is not

raining, the windows including the panoramic tilt/slide

sunroof will close automatically after approx. 12hours.

and iirc it's just a check box. I don't use the system, don't have a sunroof and have never been rained on with open windows, so I can't say for sure, but what I can say is that the 12-hour-window-close part of the rain-closing function certainly does work without being set every time. The day after I got the car, before I was even aware of the 'rain closing' function, let alone how to set it, I left my windows open overnight to dry my washed carpets and was most surprised to find them all closed the next day.

I thought that it was a one-tick selection too, until I tried it and found that the selection was lost after re-entering the car (I checked as a result of an earlier post on here). I suppose that this may have change over the passage of time and the development of software/firmware, but it was certainly the case on my Superb. Might be interesting to look and see if the selection on your car is still ticked, as your previous closure was not rain-dependent, but time-related.

Looking back, using the search, I found that you can alter the setting with VCDS to make it a "once-only" setting, so I suspect that it's an "every time" otherwise.

I should imagine so, yes. It's typical of Skoda to provide an if-required alternative; not so typical to provide a feature and then make it a PITA to use. (And I think it would have been mentioned in the handbook, too.)

Think Michael Caine.

I have...and all I can come up with is, "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"...and that doesn't fit.

Not A Lot Of People Know That (which, incidentally, he claims never to have said, but which most impressionists use)  :)

Thanks, Ray.

Mike.

I found a few weeks ago that if you keep it pressed again it folds the mirrors in. As soon as you turn the ignition on they fold out theirselves.

I did it by accident on SWMBO Seat and wondered wtf was going on as I wasn't close to the car when I must have pressed the button by mistake and found the windows open when I got back. LOL

Does anybody know if the sunroof can be made to open instead of just tilting when the windows open?

Must be different on the Superb, as the Octavia it stays selected once set.

I've disabled window opening for security on both cars, and also disabled the option via the door lock as both are exploited by crooks.

I do however sometimes leave the windows slightly open, and if it rains it closes.

It's the same on the Superb, there is the option on both using VCDS to have it as a one time operation (selectable via Maxidot) or as a permanent feature.

Works on mine without having to select it after the 1st time.

Would have to keep it pressed a long time on mine, Dan.

Doesn't have folding mirrors!
