MY12 and my rain closing stays selected all the time, and it works!

Hey, I just tried mine out and .....Hey Presto, the windows opened when I held the unlock button down etc......blimey!  I didn't know that either!  I've had my car 17 months.

Does anybody know if the sunroof can be made to open instead of just tilting when the windows open?

 

Yes, you can change this with VCDS.  It's an option something like "convenience tilt/open" where if ticked it does one thing, if unticked it does the other.

If you have access to vcds I'd disable the function on the door locks. Newer cars should be disabled by default.
