Daihatsu Charade GTti For Sale

Featured Replies

About this Car:

G Plate (1989) Daihatsu Charade GTti in White. I bought this car in 2003 and have owned it since. I took it off the road and declared it SORN for approximately 2 years from 2005-2007 (as I was not in the country). I brought it back on the road in 2007 and then used it until I bought another vehicle for long distance commuting, in 2008. This GTti has been in my garage since 2008 and SORN. I had it re-MOT’d in February 2013 and the mileage between these MOT’s is about 5 miles!

Features and Condition:

Genuine mileage from new is 63200 (sixty three thousand, two hundred) miles.

9 months MOT (MOT’d in February this year but not used at all)

6 months Tax

·      Electric windows and mirrors

·      Sunroof

·      All electrics and dials in full working order, the rev counter is a bit temperamental

·      Digital clock

·      Very good condition and unmarked two tone grey seats

·      The dash and interior trim are all in very good condition

·      Brand new Bosch battery fitted in February

·      New front pads and discs fitted (less than 30 miles)

·      Engine is mechanically sound and does not burn oil!

·      Each window (rear screen and all side windows), rear light clusters, sunroof and headlights have the cars original number plate etched onto the glass/plastic

·      The body work is showing signs of corrosion in some places

·      The windscreen has two stone chips on the passenger side, which have been there since I have owned the car

Documents:

·      Original Owners Manual

·      Original Service Booklet (This has stamps from 17/10/89 at 657miles on the clock upto 55234 miles)

·      Two sets of keys

·      All previous MOT certificates since 2003 when I bought the car

·      Certificate of Installation for the CAT 2 Immobiliser

·      Receipts for various bits of work that I have had done to the car

Extras:

·      The only thing I have done to this car is fit a boost gauge and Forge dump valve. Apart from that it is completely standard.

If you have ever driven one of these cars you will know just how much fun they are, the roarty little three-cylinder sounds amazing and makes the engine sound much bigger than it is!

£2,400

I am open to offers : )

Wow not seen one of these for years

Absolutely brilliant little cars, they mod upto resonably levels on standards/minor parts and rare - will destroy things like saxo vts etc

GLWTS

i had an ex demonstrator with 1,500 miles on it when they first came out..

it was mental !

GLWTS

Then it's your chance to own a bit of history!

Stick it on the gtti owners club site there is normally a queue to buy these, i have had a few of these great fun and sound amazing

Best of luck - that is some price for a 24 year old car... Or am I missing something??

They are rapid and only a 1000cc (i think), my mate had one of these highly customised to something like 290bhp but had to sell because he was watching his fuel gauge go down.

I genuinely thought it was a joke..im obviously too young

The official 0-60 time is 7.9 seconds! Not bad.

I have dropped the price as this car has to go sadly. This is a great little car and is easily tuneable to 180 Bhp and would make for a great project car!

Same here. But from other responses looks quite impressive. GLWS.

I remember when Autocar ran a comparison between the Charade and the Suzuki Swift GTi

Both were legends in their own lifetime  :)

I know someone with a Swift Gti and it does live up to its name.  On a recent run out in the Rallyes, I was impressed with how it went down some twisty B roads.  Again, they don't weigh much and a lot of the old school motors can still give the more modern stuff a run for their money.  The Daihatsu GTti is one of those cars.  You young 'uns need to look to the past a bit more. ;)

a mate of mine had a j reg one in pearlescent white in the mid 90s and nothing could get near it nothing , it was like a little ferrari, unbelievable power from a three pot engine, it had an  AP Borg+Beck clutch and a straight through system that was about it for mods i think , but was an amazing car , reminded me of a milk crate with wheels on haha proper pocket rocket glws ps worth every penny for the thrill !!!!!!!!!!

Hi, is the gtti been sold ????

Loved the GTti and the death-trap Swift! :)

2 year old thread, bit of a revival :D

Why do you say the Swift was/is a death trap?

I've rallied one for the last 12 years, firstly road rally's and then moved onto tarmac stage rally's.

Yes the metal is paper thin and the Japanese tin worm likes to make feast out of them, but I didn't at any time think the car was going to kill me, well only when the driver ran out of talent!

I have just sold her to my Son, and in it's final incarnation it was running 160+ bhp and 122Lbft of torque (1362cc), 5 speed straight cut dog box and LSD, big four pot brakes, coil over suspension all round, and a fresh fully seam welded shell built from a 2003 1ltr with a massive T45 weld in cage (think touring car spec) from Custom cages, oh and all up weight with half a tank of fuel was 707Kg (850Kg from the factory)  .

Actually just writing this made me think, I WANT MY CAR BACK  :'(.

Anyway I've gone way off thread, apologies.

Yeah but has he sold it yet? :D
