Top speed on Octy VRS.

Featured Replies

This thread is not to promote breaking the law speed limits.......But!

Has anyone been on a track, private road, Autobahn and seen what their VRS will do top speed, if so what speeds have been seen?

Standard 140-145

Mapped 145-150

Stage 2 ??

I always **** myself at 130mph and back off in any car. Infact anything in excess of 100mph scares the hell out of me i start thinking about having a tyre blowout etc and it would be game over. Now going round corners fast enough to **** the back wheel up or need a bit of oposite lock to correct a slide thats fun.  Regards your question i see no reason to doubt the manufacturers Top Speed figures in the brochure My mk1 would still pull well to 130mph. on the autobahn obviously. :giggle:

Interesting replies, thanks!  So they really are a 140+mph car, impressive!

I was seeing this girl years ago, she was very high up in a well known company plus her parents were stinking rich. Well she had a Ferrari 348ts. We drove from Milton Keynes to Spain in it, great fun but the noise drives you mad after a day!  On the Autobahn I remember seeing the speedo reading 170mph and the Road Angel which gave the true reading was 157mph, I did this for only about a minute. What amazed me is when I was doing 120mph cars like 911 Turbos, Lambo's etc were passing me as if I was standing still......Some seriously fast cars I witnessed on that tour!

Last one I had did 180+ GPS proven ;-)

Stage 2

Yep, has this on the Autobahn last year in a mk2 Fabia vRS with tuning box. Doing 140 Porkas would still go past as if you're standing still.

Impressed Lloyd!  Cntuning......180mph, not in an Octy surely?  Softscoop......It is shocking when some of these Merc's, M3's, M5's, Porky's pass you at mad speeds when you are going stupidly fast yourself, lol!!

I got overtaken by a Tour Bus on the autobahn and i was doing 104mph (indicated) in a clio 16v. I would have been going faster but that was the sweet spot where the exhaust didn't make too much noise. Any slower / faster and the noise was unbearable.

140 on the clock is probably 125 ish in reality.  :giggle:

Yes in a mk1 Octavia Vrs :-)

Ive done about 7 top speed runs on the autobahn and managed around 150mph each time. Best one was 151mph. GPS proven.

Stage 1 car. Details in my signature. Going back again in September so will give it another punt if I take my car. Impressive for a big fat Skoda!

What did your speedo read ?

Well mate you have deffo' sold me one of your maps from reading this, lol!!  On a serious note, what had the VRS done to her to get to 180mph?  Also when it comes to re-mapping I always thought maps helped with that mid range torque and 0-60 so would not make a difference top speed wise?

Gearbox ratio's come into play too

The car in question had a diesel 6spdbox geared to 188mph in final drive

**** knows what it was lol

It was on 20s too so could be anything :D

Felt like i shouldnt have been taking a picture whatever it was

well ive had mine on a runway and did 149 on the speedo and 146 on the sat nav was well chuffed :)

Without changing the box you won't go any faster than a stage 1 2 or 3 it's just how quick it max the gear out

With a stage 1 at r-tech the rev limiter is increased from 6800rpm to 7000rpm so you will gain more over standard whatever 200rpm equates to in mph

In 4th standard it hits 134.8mph and after it hits 139mph

So in 5th in a longer gear you could get an extra maybe 6/7mph??

There's a calculator here: Car Performance Calculator

Found drag coefficient and frontal area here: Vehicle Coefficient of Drag List

Drag coefficient: 0.32

Frontal area: 22.17

you need a dynograph to play ;)

Can I just point out that GPS assumes sea level, and flat ground... ;)

Although it is much more accurate than a speedo, compare it to a calibrated tachograph and it's a different story.

I never knew that, good to know :)

GPS's think the world is round, which it isn't ;)

Mine is geared for 186mph....I've had over 165 on the clock out of it!

It had a fair bit left,so to me,I think it will actually do 180+ with ease as long it's not into a stiff head wind!

Can't say where this was though as it may get me into trouble!
