Selling my car soon if anyone is interested.

Featured Replies

I love it but I'm just not using it since moving house and getting a train season ticket.

I would be interested in hearing people's thoughts on what configuration I should sell it in. I don't think it is economically viable to sell it in its current spec:

PD170 running Shark DPF-off map, dyno'd at 212hp / 360lbft.
Southbend stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel
Darkside EGR delete
Peloquin limited slip diff
Milltek big bore downpipe
AP coilovers
Air Lift slam series air struts
Air Lift performance series rear air springs
VIAIR 444C compressor
SMC water trap
Air Lift Autopilot v2 management
Accuair skinny 5 gallon aluminium tank
BBS CH028 18" wheels with 215 tyres.
18" OEM Zenith winter wheels in light anthracite / gunmetal with winter tyres.
Neuspeed short shifter.
Porsche 996 turbo front brakes on 350mm Brembo Merc discs with modifed centre bore.
Audi S3 rear brakes powder coated to match the Porsches.
Octavia and VRS badges removed.
Professionally painted grill surround
gecleant black glass rear wiper blank.

Recaro Sportster CS seats.
Mk6 flat bottomed multifunction steering wheel
LED interior lights
L&K door and dash trims and custom piano black MFD / climatronic surround.
Kenwood DNX520VBT Nav
Pioneer speakers, dynamatted doors
Alpine amp / Kenwood sub.

New turbo under warranty.
New injectors under recall.

I think the most likely sale spec would be sometihng like

PD170 running Shark stage 0 DPF-off map.
Southbend stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel
Darkside EGR delete
Peloquin limited slip diff
Milltek big bore downpipe

AP Coilovers (set at a sensible height!)
18" OEM Zenith winter wheels freshly refurbed in silver + two new tyes.
Professionally painted grill surround
gecleant black glass rear wiper blank.

LED interior lights
L&K door and dash trims and custom piano black MFD / climatronic surround.
Pioneer speakers, dynamatted doors

New turbo under warranty.
New injectors under recall.

Original DPF downpipe also included, in excellent condition. Never had a single DPF problem. Also, the standard interior is properly immaculate, having been removed some time ago and stored in bags in my house.

Would include the Kenwood DNX520VBT Nav at extra cost. The rest of the bits removed I will be selling separately.

I've not fully worked out the pricing yet, but I'm sure plenty of people on here are familiar with the car and can vouch for the condition of it. Mileage is 79,000, mainly motorway commuting. It's obviously got a full service history - not Skoda main dealer, because I prefer to buy the oil and parts from my Skoda dealer and then watch my trusted mechanic at a reputable independent garage install them, so I know everything has been done right (yes, I'm very fussy and untrusting! :) ). Since I've owned it it's been serviced on a 10,000 intervals but with 507 spec long life oil to look after the engine.

It's a nice car, especially with the common diesel annoyances of EGR, dual mass flywheel and DPF all having been taken out of the equation using quality replacement parts. It also handles far better than a front wheel drive diesel has any right to due to the limited slip diff. The diff and clutch cost a huge amount of money.

My longterm spritmonitor.de monitored fuel consumption is 47.3 (in my sig). With just motorway commuting I easily average over 50mpg over a tank.

The interior is lot classier than most vRSs because of the silver trim having been replaced with genuine L&K piano black parts....

Thoughts? Plan is to sell this and my wife's Corsa and get an B8 A4 Avant petrol 1.8 or 2.0 for her to use. I'll be happy enough driving that at the weekend too I think.

Sounds like your not very keen on it then   I've seen this car in the Flesh and I can tell you it's one of the best modded Vrs's around.   Prime example of what can be done.............Properly

  • I have considered it. If I was single, I'd keep it even though I don't need a diesel what with getting the train full time now.   I do love this car and I'd love to get some more benefit out of some

Shame its lowered, I avoid lowered cars at all costs.

Erm, OK. Thanks for your input. In fairness, I'd avoid buying your car with a "Mr Muscled Turbo" that's been run on vegetable oil with modified injectors at all costs, so I guess we all see things differently.

Damaged underside of the car, damages sump, damaged under engine covers, scrubbed out tyres, geometry all out after car manufacturers spend millions calculating it, CV joint failiure, wheel bearing faliure, damaged exhausts...

You are 32 man, doing that to a car is what a 17 year old does! (risking backlash now, fingers in ears)

Other than that, gorgeous car and I like the rest of the spec, bar EGR delete, imminent MOT fail. L&K bits deffo ggod choice.

I think that looks super hench, it's obviously had some serious money spent on it too.

a car like this, in this spec would be hard to come by too especially one owned and maintained meticulously by an enthusiast. It's a shame I'm so under the thumb otherwise I would buy something like this.

If you want to sell the seats to me Nick...that'd be just great.

All I am saying is if I were you I would pop it back to standard height to sell it. Sell it with the springs in the boot. At least then non gary boy petrol heads who like performance and prestige might be interested too. A decked car isnt going to attract the people who want to visit anyone or people who live down bumpy roads. It narrows the potential buyers down. I had a Sapphire Cosworth, wish I kept it, but i has 18's on it and it was decked and i couldnt sell it, only acne ridden teenagers from southend wanted it and offered silly prices. I put the standard wheels I kept for winter on it and the springs that were in the garage, re-put it in Max Power and gor £500 more than I had originally put it up for. First guy who called bought it.

The spec I suggested selling it in includes

'AP Coilovers (set at a sensible height!)'

Hence, only lightly lowered, offering improved handling, complementing the limited slip diff. The front struts will be fitted with brand new top mounts as it's easier for me to do this now than the buyer of the car to have to do this down the line. I will also be fitting brand new drop links and possibly new lower control arms.

Assuming I do sell it without the Porsche brakes, the standard brakes will have brand new discs and pads. So, I hope you can see, I want the prospective buyer of this car to receive it in good condition in a configuration they can enjoy it in.

Might be worth returning most of it to standard and either selling the parts separately or reusing anything that'll fit the A4?

A very nice car fella wish i had the spare cash at the mo otherwise i would of snapped this up :-(

All the best with the sale!

I'm trying to strike a balance with the things that are being kept on the car vs removed. I want to present it in a spec that has broad appeal and is easy to live with. Certain things such as the LSD and clutch just don't make sense to remove, given the amount of work involved to remove them. The clutch was only fitted earlier this year and the LSD only fitted last year. Combined with the excellent overall condition of the car, they help differentiate the car from the sea of average condition bog standard spec ones for sale.

Oh one other thing I just remembered. The cambelt and tensioners etc and water pump were changed earlier this year. It had an oil change about 4,000 miles ago.

Might be worth returning most of it to standard and either selling the parts separately or reusing anything that'll fit the A4?

To get the most viewers and hopefully a greater price this is the only way to go IMHO.

But I appreciate your car has been more loved than any other on the road.

So, to summarise, the proposed spec is thus:

Factory spec:

2008 vRS TDI in Race Blue with the following factory optional extras:

Xenon headlights

Cruise control

Climate control

Jumbo box arm rest

Rear parking sensors

18" wheels

Maxidot

Automatic rain sensitive wipers

Automatic lights

Auto dimming rear view mirror.

Upgrades beyond factory spec:

Miltek exhaust downpipe, removing the DPF with a matching Shark stage 0 DPF-off map, yielding improved reliability and fuel economy over a standard car.
Stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel - retaining factory pedal feel but much improved drivability and reliability.
Darkside EGR delete - improves low end driveability and keeps the engine cleaner.
Peloquin limited slip diff - stunning upgrade - the correct way to stop these cars understeering. Transforms the driving experience.

AP Coilovers set to a subtle height drop.
Professionally painted grille surround
L&K door and dash trims and custom piano black MFD / climatronic surround.
Upgraded pioneer speakers in the factory locations, dynamatted doors.

Facelift aerial.

Work to be carried out before sale:

New discs and pads all around.

New tyres (either Vredestein or Michelin)

New top mounts, drop links and bump stops

How much?!

Nick, if you wanted a px on the black trim with my standard vRS stuff I'd be very interested. Might be interested in the CHs if you're selling those too...

Sorry Dave - it's just not worth the hassle removing the door cards to do it. I'm going to have enough on what with removing the air ride, seats, brakes, etc.

No probs. Absolutely spot on car though. Shame to be putting it back to standard but I can certainly see why!

If you do sell the CHs I'd be interested.

B8 is a good choice though. Mate has a 3.0 TDI S-Line Quattro Avant with DSG and it absolutely flies. Crap boot compared to the Octavia though ;)

Thats a really nice car,it seems a shame to strip it down to sell it,cant you sell it as it is or would it be very expensive?

Certain things like the brakes, seats, steering wheel, wheels, air suspension might not be to everyone's taste, limiting the appeal of the car. They are worth more sold separately, especially as they can be sold to VW, Audi and Seat people too.

Shame its lowered, I avoid lowered cars at all costs.

Such a helpful thing to say! Sometimes its best to keep pointless negative comments to yourself.

Have seen Nicks motor in the flesh (at many a show) and can vouch for its immaculate condition.(I dont know Nick personally).

Good luck on the sale Im sure it will attract a buyer soon!

Why not just chuck the Corsa and keep the vRS rather than go hunting for a standard A4? You've put a lot of money and effort into it thus far.

Just a thought...........

Niall

what you after for it?

would you be interested in lets say a PX for a standard VRS (2007, race blue , PD170, body work is MINT, 50k miles ) plus cash your way depending on what you after ?

that's what I was thinking too - just put your vRS to a spec you'd both be happy with.  Audi A4s are nice enough, but externally they're no smaller than an Octavia and internally they're no bigger so what would you gain from getting one?
